Default Question on Engine Appearance and Lighting Package

I see the Engine Lighting (only) is a separate option now for coupes. For those who have the Engine Appearance and Lighting Package, do the lights only come on when the back hatch is raised, or do they also come on with the headlamps?

come on with the headlights. At least that’s how the combined package worked

I have watched one video where the car is running with the headlights on, but the engine bay is not lit up. It was lit when the car was unlocked, though. Looks to be a few responses on CF that say it works only when the car is unlocked or the hatch is open.

Engine bay lights only light up when the hatch is opened. If you want to turn them on with the hatch closed, buy the Power Labs patch cable that will allow you to turn them on by activating the rear defogger.

No, the lights are not on with headlamps. Lifting the hatch puts the lights on. Oddly of all the options (Mag, Front Lift, Z51, wheels, interior colors) I like this one best as it is somewhat functional .

Chevy's E-Ray vids show non-factory engine bay LED lighting bars just under the engine window left/right vents:

They look very similar to the aftermarket kit offered on this company's site which can be controlled through Bluetooth or key fob:

I bought my 2020 used and it has the package on it. I would have never ordered it if I had built the car certainly does not seem to be worth the money they charged for it.

If you turn on the interior lights or open the car door, do the engine bay lights go on? Or is it only when you open the hatch? Thanks

In my 2023 the engine bay lights go on and off the same as the 2 lights in the trunk area. They all go off together after 10 minutes when the rear hatch is left open.

When I ordered my 2022, I felt the same way, so I decided not to order the option. The only useful part of the option is the light. Not worth the price for what you get.

I sprung for the $100 for the lights figuring that's cheap and might help me find stuff in the dark. The fancy triangles? I'm ok without.
