Wasn't a fan of the blend-mount, with the radar detector taking too much visual landscape. Ended up with this as a solution and it aligns well with the heads up display.

That would be silly. Used double sided velcro tape designed for applications on fabric.

it’s magnetic and comes with a metal plate with double side tape to stick to the bottom of the unit. Works really well and doesn’t move even under hard maneuvers.

V1 G2 + VG app, mirror tap from eBay...
...mounted high; suction cups removed and replaced with scotch lock (velcro did not give confidence) ... quick removal when necessary.
The power cord (well secured under the mirror housing) serves as a tether should the device release unexpectedly.

What is the ScotchLock attached to? Glued to the windshield, or.....?

WOW, I just swapped out my old Escort 9500iX for the new Max 360 MKII. Here are my initial observations (just sitting in the garage)

1. Both units use the same power cord (however plug connection is on the opposite side (Good to know if you have a power line permanently installed as I do).
2. You better download the manual for the Max 360MKII. The unit comes with no directions. Not even a "quick start" guide.
3. The Max 360 MKII is much larger than the 9500iX. About TWICE the size!
4. Same with the weight. The 360Max is 2-3 times heavier than the 9500iX. I mean, this thing weighs a ton.
5. Reference number 4 above, I don't use suction cups to attach the unit to the windshield, but if I did, I would be worried.
6. The color of the Max 360MKII case is sort of a blueish gray (instead of the basic black 9500iX), which means it does not "blend in" as well with the top of the dashboard.

Okay, that's it. I'll take the car out over the weekend and try to give new detector a good shaking out. Will report back with results...

Default Mount Radar Detector on the BACK glass?

Has anyone considered or better done an install that puts the RD on the back glass of the cabin rather than the windshield? Assuming one was mirroring the warnings to a phone or screen on the dash of the car, you'd see what you needed to see and it would be out of the visual line for obstruction or attraction to thieves. Not sure where we pick up the power but there is that mostly useless inductive charging slot on the back wall between the seats.

Some people have done this. I considered mounting my V1 on the waterfall between the seats and making a radar transparent cover for it. If done right people unfamiliar with C8s wouldn't even know it isn't supposed to be there, it would be quite a stealthy install. But I got lazy.

There is a fuse block underneath the center speaker that could be tapped for power but if I did it I'd want a hard wired remote display or at least a mute button for the times the Bluetooth connection misbehaves. If I did it that way I might as well run the power from the front.

Only issue for me is that the antiquated firmware on this older detector did not do a great job of filtering out false K Band alerts. Got to the point that I disengaged K band reception, which got it to quiet down quite a bit, but of course, left me somewhat exposed. Anyway, the MkII is supposed to do a great job of filtering out all falsies, so all should be good at the end of the day. I'll report back.
ive usedBlend Mount on at least 3 of my corvettes to mount my Escort's right under the mirror

on mounting on the waterfall would reaction time and incoming signal strength be lost?

^^^
Doubt it as it’s only glass front or back.

Escort Redline 360C - standard mount in the box

$11 eBay mount with VHB sticker instead of suction cup

$11 eBay mount with the magnetic piece from the standard mount instead of the articulating neck, with VHB tape

If I can find a suitable location for the third option once my C8 arrives, that is what I will use. Although I have ordered the flat magnetic mount on Amazon (see below) and will use one or the other of these.

Yes, windshield ... works great for the last 6 months.

PS, the V1 arrows are nice - especially to alert you when a radar unit is approaching from the rear,
pacing or electronic speed determination.

Not sure if you have heard, but the developer of Highway Radar is working on an iOS version of the app. Sounds like it is very close or in Beta. May not be too much longer. More details at https://www.rdforum.org/threads/1081...0G9L2PLGdbIy0c

I had hesitated because Vortex kind of hammered the Escort a while back but with the updates seems most of that stuff is fixed. I was just about ready to pull the trigger on the Valentine but I decided I want a device that says "Hey stupid, there is a cop over there" without apps, and crap to figure out.
Sadly though, I have learned there is no such thing as the perfect RD.
Yea - Other than the "starting 2 RD threads", those could be my words - especially the ones highlighted.

I used V1G1's for 2 decades and wanted the V1G2 to win out. And my research found it to be almost unanimous, that the V1G2 used with JBV1 gives the greatest "coverage/protection" but..............
I wanted the RD with the least falses, without needing to continuously use Apps. These threads, Vortex You Tubes and the RDForum all directed me with those criteria to the Redline 360.

As you say: "there is no such thing as the perfect RD". Per what I have read, to me, the downsides of the Redline360 (compared to the V1G2) are (2 user and 1 performance):
1) No true mini remote display (showing arrows) for night time when I want to run dark mode,
2) Can't use a Visor mount (to leave it in place),
3) Redline360 is slower to react to Instant On than the V1G2 (or the Uniden). The new firmware upgrade made the reaction time marginally OK, but not as lightning quick as the other two.

Also - There are a not-insignificant number of 1Star, 2Star ratings on Escort's own website (at least they don't erase them - I hope). Much of it had to do with Customer Service and Shipping (of course), but some of the complaints were Technical. I mitigated that somewhat (especially the Shipping) by ordering one from Best Buy and will pick it up from the store on Fri (f2f). Also, Best Buy has $50 off if you become a "Plus Member" for $50 (for a year). A wash on cost, but the Plus Membership includes a 2 month return policy. And again, if needed, the Return/Reimbursement would be f2f.

I will add a Thanks to all the Posters here. This thread + one of the other RD threads that PaulCPO started had lots of informative testimonials that were key to my decision.

Now I got to get on eBay and Amazon to get the mounting hardware ordered.

Indeed. A ton of info. More than I could process for sure.

No visor mount? Well, that stinks but not a deal breaker for me. I am hoping that I can get by with the blend a mount and windshield tint in non-friendly RD states.

BTW. Wifey said a good solution is to not speed. LMAO. Guess I am canceling my C8 order now. She rolled her eyes and walked out of the room.
