Default Lambo Doors?

Hi,
**************************************** **************************************** **************************************** **************************************** ********************************
I am not sure if this has been discussed extensively in any other thread, so Dear Moderators, be kind as to point me to any existing threads and nix this one, Thank you.
**************************************** **************************************** **************************************** **************************************** ********************************
I would like to seek feedback on installing lambo doors on the C8 - Good idea / Bad Idea / Terrible Idea / Cheesy?
I am considering them for practical reasons - Extra long door that *will* bump the sheetrock in my garage, staying away from denting adjacent cars in parking lots, etc.

Thoughts?

1. they are ugly as sin (personal opinion so do as you like of course)
2. you still have to open your door a significant amount horizontally before you can go vertical. (this may defeat your needs)
3. add those together and you get a bad idea in my book

all that said, you want to go hard on some vertical doors. enjoy it!

IMO... They are not for everyone. If you ever decide to sell your car, you have limited the audience that would be interested. They do de-value the car.

I like them, but wouldn’t put them on my car unless my garage had limited space.

Honestly,

Bad idea, regardless of what you're told they'll all have issues eventually. They'll all eventually have one or more of these issues. 1 - door alignment issues, 2- door jams all scratched up due to #1, 3- door wiring harness issues due to extending the harness to reach the door upswing.

Have you ever lived with "Lambo" doors... even on a Lambo where they fit and work correctly? I have and hate them on a day-to-day basis. But, to each his/her own. Fortunately, they are reversible. (btw, "Advanced searches" here work well)

Other practical reasons: extravagance, attention, 15 minutes of fame, vanity, depreciation...

The expensive ones do. They are important to the brand.

Default Bad Knees

I installed lambo doors on my C8. They are great. Even though I always park far away from other cars in parking lot sometimes someone parks next to me. In my C7 a few times I had a real problem squeezing in the car. Also I had knee replacement surgery, so it makes getting in the car so much easier. Yes it does look nice, but not the reason I got them.

I have rented two cars with similar doors from the factory - a 2019 McLaren 570S Spider (dihedral) and a BME i8 (scissors?).
I have also rented quite a few sportscars with regular doors. Yes, they make it easy to get in, especially in the i8, as you get IN, not on the seat. But the think I like the most is the attention you get when you get out or go into the car.
The added bonus is not worrying about the door, hitting something.

It's OK if you want them. Just don't buy from Elkom motorsports.

Even if I did like them, it makes no sense paying to make your car worth less.

You can change them back anytime you want. You'll will have the stock hinges.

Lambo doors look cool but they aren’t solid. Every one I have ever seen in person wobbles.

Yep pay a load to install them, pay again to swap them back and I bet your C8 will look just great after having lambo doors swapped out on it twice. No Thanks!
