tire repair
Sorry to bring this up but I did do a search and saw nothing...so....I recently ran over a small screw at about 4 inches inboard...I leaked down to 0 pressure....
Can I just buy a plug kit and do it myself?? Tires only have 5000 miles and plenty of tread, not on wall but inside in thread space...
Thanks to all

Find a Discount Tire in your area if they are in GA. They remove the tire and plug/patch from the inside. And they do it free. Otherwise, find tire service place that handles exotic car tires. Michelin says tire can be repaired once if not in the sidewall area. They have repaired my tires.

It's a cheap repair, your dealership or Discount Tire can easily handle it. I trust their method quite a bit more then the DIY kits that don't require the tire to be dismounted.

I bought a plug kit off Amazon and did mine. I didn't want to have tire removed, repaired, replaced, balanced, and possible wheel scratches.
I do not track my car. Some will say you must plug and patch from the inside.
I like 'Dynaplug Tubeless Tire Repair Tool Kit'. Small, portable, no glue, and on-car repair.
A little expensive but 2 repairs and it pays for itself. I don't like others touching, jacking, repairing, unless necessary.
Best wishes;

I second Tire Discount. I had an screw on one of my tires and I took my car there. First thing they told me was “it’s going to take a bit more time than usual because we take extra time to ensure we take good care of the wheels and ensure nothing happen to it”. Now, did you drive with 0 pressure? If so, there might be a chance that you need to replace the tire (I hope that is not the case). Good luck on your decision.

I started more than 2 threads on my NAILS in Tire. 1 new tire , 1 patched by my dealer. $50 for the repair. Strongly suggest you get it done correctly. Remember what your Game Changer cost you. Maintenance, repairs, insurance, ... should have been part of the decision making process or maybe you should have purchased a less expensive option. Strongly suggest you look into an extended warranty soon.

I'd have it done right. A tech at a tire shop once told me that plugs were temporary. I agree.

Another Vote for Discount Tire. They get a "Very Reputable" grade from me.
Wife's Lexus with original tires (10kmi) got a screw, kinda close to the sidewall. With it being close to the sidewall, I called my local store to discuss. They didn't have the exact tire in that store, but could get it there by the next morning, in case it could not be patched. I made an appt for the next morning.
Next morning, looking at it, the service rep told me what I had expected: I would probably need a new tire since it was pretty close to the sidewall, but we'll see when we get it off. I said OK - Do What Ya Gotta Do.
20 min later they have the Lexus out front. Screw was "angled in" so that the hole on the inside was far enough away from the sidewall to patch.
"What do I owe?"
Nothing - Good to Go.
"Thanks - This is why I buy all my tires at Discount Tire. I've even bought Drag Radials here"
Thanks for your business.

18 Discount Tire Centers in the Greater Atlanta area. If you are there, you should be there. They'll fix the tire for free. Best to call for an appointment. Most are very busy since they do very good work.

You can do it yourself, if you're willing to accept the risk that the plug, which went in from the outside, will someday exit back to the outside. A plug/patch applied from the inside will last the life of the tire.

From Discount Tire ADD:
"Discount Tire patches tires for free. They offer complimentary flat tire repair services to both customers and non-customers. However, they will not repair damages that occur to the shoulder or sidewall of the tire or tires more than four or five years old."
BTW had tire insurance for my 2017 Grand Sport and like most insurance I buy glad I never has to use it! Bought "insurance" for the wife's 2018 BMW SUV that came with 315 section width rear Continental tires. Insurance cost is based on replacement tire cost and for that car was $185 bought the 1st week we had the car.. She had 4 mails/screws. Two were near the sidewall so two free new tires. Two were in from the sidewall and two free pug/patch and balance. Well worth the investment. Would not drive a C8 without it!
Michelin says one plug/patch acceptable per tire IF car was not driven on zero pressure. If it went to zero in the garage pump up to 30 and bring to Discount Tire. If you don't have a pump, buy one that plugs into the 12-volt socket in the Frunk from Harbor Freight. There are small and can carry in Frunk/Truck.

If it were my car, I would take it to a trusted tire shop and have them do a plug and patch repair.

If you take it in, make sure you are THAT guy and point out to them where to jack from. Took mine in for 2 nails in a tire, and they were about to jack it from the wrong spot. I pointed out where my leave in jack pucks were located.

My Discount Tire told me if they felt the repair wouldn't be safe they would not remount the tire. They said after unmounting it and inspection that it could be fixed, and after about 8,000 miles it has been fine.

I was that guy but on my Toyota RAV4 daily driver. Man did he wig out. He wanted to jack under the crimped sheet metal jacking point on the uni-body. When I traded it in that point was all folded over from nimrods like him that don't jack properly. I bought a polyurethane puck from Amazon and machined out a slot. But the puck was hard to get on (and off) because of all the nimrods that crushed the jacking point. My past experience has shown that many of these people damage things as well as fix things. I avoid them as much as possible. An I will remove the wheel from my vette and transport it in my daily driver rather than taking my vette there.

BUT in my case easier and safer to remove the tire and transport in the wife's SUV, which I did for my two with nails! Also concerned about ant wheel marks I asked the manager to give me his best tech and I would wait. I said there would be a $20 tip for no marks. Fellow came over right away, looked carefully at my wheel in the SUV for any marks. He did a great job and got the $20 top!
