Data on C8 Reliability 2020 vs 2021 vs 2022?
Now that we have a significant number of C8s out there in the 'real world', from the three build years (2020, 2021 & 2022), do we have any statistics on problems within each build year? From my personal experience, my early Z51 HTC, model year 2020, has been trouble free with the exception of an Electronic Frunk Latch failure (fixed quickly by Mr Goodwrench). I guess the bottom line question is, "are the Bowling Green boys & girls building better (cars with fewer problems) C8s today vs 2019 when production of the C8 began?" Reading the forums, sounds like failed valve springs, frunk latches, AC drain hose and bad Bose amplifiers have been addressed, but I'm still reading about early DCT and paint issues. Data on the "build quality question", by year, would be very interesting.

The usual problem with this type of post is there is very little data. As we know car form usually are bias and identify only a few problems. Unless GM or some other source has creditable data from a large sample we won't get any usable info. If you read a few of these forms you would think that the C8 has bad transmissions or blown engines but these are but a hand full of problem cars Can't guess how many are bad with maybe 100K cars built. Then again some people are on multiple sites posting the same problems so the data is skewed. Got my 2020 in Dec 2020. Had the front lift leaking cap replaced and thats it. Got 29K miles on it now . So my opinion is these cars are extremely reliable . Good luck and I'll watch for the results.

Just add up the posts on the forum that are about problems it won't be perfect because everybody is not on the forum BUT

With this method the civics and corollas would have the most problem reports just because they’ve been selling for so long and selling so well

My 2020 has 34,000kms on it and I have never been to the dealer for anything other than oil and trans filter changes. Its the most reliable car I've ever owned. Wait, thats not true. I had one issue in three years. The white lettering on one of my key fobs rubbed off after a few months. Chevy gave me a new one and all has been good since.

2020, 17,000 miles of smiles. Zero defects (so far). Routine maintenance all performed at dealership (yes, I trust my service dept writer and tech for the past nine years).

Only GM has those data, and they won't ever disclose it. It has always been closely held and always will be.
Consumer Reports probably has the most "scientific" process, but it's still owner self-report thus still inherently unreliable. Moreover, relative to vehicles produced and sold in much larger quantities than Corvettes (like F-150s and Silverados), the sample size isn't large enough to be reliable.

I have over 11 thousand miles on my C8 and not a single issue. The car is very nicely put together and the fit and finish is as good or better than any car I have ever owned from many different manufacturers including high end German and Japanese brands. Every time I drive my C8 it impresses me.
My only complaint is how noisy the Michelins are. These are the all seasons and they are loud. I had the summer Michelins on my C7 and they were also very loud. Most of the reviews on these tires mention how noisy they are.

Agree on the road noise. And the fit, finish and overall driving experience.

Not a single issue is impressive

Foosh Yes I have found that people that spend lots of money on a car are reluctant to admit they got a bad deal or the car is a piece of crap.

Consumer Reports, love it or hate it, is still the best place to find reliability data. It's based on user reports, not dealer data, so the results aren’t as objective as they might be, but the numbers are a fairly good representation of what's going on.
For the C8, reliability has actually gotten better. It started as worse than average and has now improved to average. That means that CR has now put the C8 on their “recommended “ list of cars, and rated it as the best performing over $40,000 sports car. Interesting that the transmission was not listed as a major trouble spot.

10,200 miles of issue free driving on my 21 Z51 Coupe. I’m at the point where the 3 year DCT drain is upon me next month. Will do the track fill like I did at 2,500 miles when I did the first filter change. Still say that should be a freebie from GM at 2500 (and 7500) as it favorably impacted the DCT performance that still exists after nearly 3 years.
