Help where are you placing Jack stand on c8
I want to get one of my rear wheels refinished and the local wheel finishers they want me to bring them the wheel and keep the wheel over night to put it on the next day.
I get the whole thing with the hockey puck on the oblong hole in the frame as the place you are supposed to Jack up the car but where do you place the Jack stand ?
thanks in advance. I know it sounds stupid
can I just put the Jack stand in front of the Jack hockey puck ? Should I put the Jack stand where the circle is? (Towing hooks) no it will tip over right?
can I just bolt up a c5 or c6 or c7 rim to the hub just to sit in the garage overnight?
muphys laws been continuously biting me in the *** and I don’t want the car to fall off the Jack over night etc..
trying to be proactive.
thanks in advance

The problem with the official alternate support locations is you have to remove panels to access them. And it isn't clear that the alternate locations are intended to take the full weight of the car.
I use the rear transport hole that is forward of the official rear lifting lifting location if I want to lift one side of the car (the ones saying "Do Not Use"). This location is close to the CG allowing the front tire to come off the ground sooner than if lifting at the official rear lifting point and leaves the official lifting locations available for jack stands. I also use this location if I want to get just one rear wheel off and only place a single jack stand at the rear lifting point.
If I want to get both rear wheels off the ground I use two jacks at the rear transport holes going back and forth to raise the rear relatively evenly and then place jack stands at the rear official lifting points. If you are concerned about how close to the CG these points are then you can place something heavy in the frunk but I haven't found it necessary to do this. I haven't tried using just one jack and placing a jack stand at the official location and repeating on the other side but it should be possible, but do so at your own risk.
If I want to get both front wheels off the ground I use the front "Do Not Use" transport holes behind the official front lifting positions using two jacks and place jack stands at the official lifting locations. Again, I haven't tried getting both front wheels off the ground using one jack so do so at your own risk. I also use this location to get just one front wheel off the ground and place the jack stand at the official lifting point.
The reason these transport holes aren't recommended for lifting is they could cause a car to fall off a 2 post lift. However they appear to be structurally adequate for lifting with jacks. One important point is to make sure you are using a lifting puck between the jack and car. And make sure the puck has a locating feature that goes into the hole to prevent it from slipping. You may have to grind off one side of the "T" to get it to fit into the hole.
Or, in this particular case where one isn't getting underneath the car, use the official lifting location and place a jack stand at the control arm attachment as a safety stop. Lower the jack so the control arm attachment just touches the stand but leave the majority of weight on the jack.

Just spitballing here.
In OP's use case, could he thread in the rear tow hook and rest it on a jack stand? He's not going under it.

I use Jack point jackstands: https://jackpointjackstands.com/
1. Currently out of stock.
2. Set lifting height.

Rennstands are another option (they are adjustable): https://rennstand.com/

Fair enough. I already have them and the fixed height hasn’t been a problem for me so far.

I have had good luck with the Jackpoint jack stands. I bought mine used. No waiting.
They are easy to set up and easy to store.

Great posts...... I have 4 jack stands, 2 pucks, and one 3 ton floor jack. I was hoping to get my c8 off the ground on 4 jack stands to paint my calipers, then wheels... in the same week. Does this seem possible? Am I headed for disaster?
With my C7 I accomplished this by jacking at the puck placement points and using jack stands at the aluminum suspension arms nearer the frame rather than out at the wheels.
Thanks for your recommendations.

I don't know how to do that safely with a C8. With a C5,6,7 you could jack it up with a floor jack and slide a jack stand in next to it. Then remove the floor jack. That won't work with a C8.
Quickjack and Jackpoint like stands are the only methods I would trust.

Jerry do you have floor two jacks? If so, I would likely lift the car on the designated frame lifting point, remove the wheel, then use the second jack to hold the car up from a solid point on the lower control arm like at the ball joint.
I would NOT place a jack or stand just outside of the designated lifting point as you risk damage doing so.
