C8 HTC - Convertible top issue
Hello, Been thoroughly enjoying my C8 HTC so far. Today, out of the blue, my convertible stopped working. I see the "Service convertible top" error on the dash. Any guidance on resolving this in house or does this require a dealership visit ? Please advise

I would disconnect negative battery cable for ten minutes and then reconnect. This reboots the electronics and will possibly fix the issue. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback. Tried this, disconnected negative for 15 mins, then reconnected. Unfortunately dint fix the issue. Think it will have to be a dealership visit Unfortunately

They did provide me with a rental car. Looks like GM pays up to $44/day it seems which was nice since C8 was my daily

Recently check the oil?

If the rubber flapper for the oil access isn't reinstalled correctly then it can interfere with a top sensor. If that is the problem you can disconnect the battery and after you reconnect it you will have a few minute window to open the tonneau cover, but I see you already tried disconnecting the battery.

Just wanted to provide an update here. My car is fixed after leaving in the dealership for 5 days. I was told it had a short circuit on one of the wires that needed replacement. So overall quick turn around/fix I did notice 20 miles extra when I picked it, probably the tech took it for some drives which Im not very thrilled about. Unfortunately, no Sd card in PDR. When asked, they said tech needed to some highway testing for wind noises. No damage, so going to let this one slide.

as far as extra miles, they told me that it would be road tested to check for any rattles etc. this is due to the extensive parts needed to be taken out to replace the wiring as it ran from the dash to the engine compartment.
they are doing a full detail on the car as a courtesy based on the fact my car was in 100 pieces and at the dealer for a week.

had the exact issue, they opened a GM TAC case and after 2 modules replaced which didn’t correct the problem, they replaced a wiring component which they stated was probably wearing since the car was built, picking the car up later today

NFG…
car was reassembled cause the rear window & top were working as expected, dealer went to put the top down this morning and it hung up/stopped midway giving the same/original error code 🤬
Factory Engineer will be onsite next week…
SUCKS !

The latest…
Dealer providing the Field Techs with a recap of what has been replaced along with the error codes being thrown, to me a total waste of time just rehashing this ordeal. With that I opened a case with GM Customer Service, can’t hurt.

GM Customer Service called today with a “Status” and said basically nothing. They stated what I already knew that the Dealer Tech provided the Field Tech group with all the info related to parts that have been changed already and the error codes that are still present. Haven’t had my car since 5/16… last week I asked the Sales Manager to give me a # if they wanted to purchase the car, they came back and gave me a decent # which as days go by I’m seriously considering.

Service Convertible top
Yesterday I got this message for the first time and then went to lunch. About an hour later it worked properly. After getting home with the top down I garaged it then put the top up without issue.
I then attempted to lower the top and the message reappeared.
Now this morning I started the car and attempted to put the top down and was met with the same message. After re-reading this thread I went out to the car and with the remote I unlocked it, pressed the top down control and it worked.
at its apex I stopped it and checked the rubber boots over the fluid reservoirs, the electrical connectors etc.. All seemed fine. I then used the door control to close the top and that went fine.
The next step was to put the top down using the door control. I did this twice both down and up.
At this point my suggestion is if the service top message appears try unlocking the vehicle with the remote the use the top down button.
YMMV but so far for me this works.
On a side note I called the dealer whose service is terrific and described the problem. I could hear the”universal shoulder shrug” over the phone. He did say there are so many sensors used and the possibility of one being out of sync could trigger the message.
let me know if you have luck with the FOB unlock then top buttons.
