dealership first visit for an oil change...

Good question. I don't understand what compels someone to grab a used filter and place it on the car. The placement of where the ring on the paint was at the point where the rear camera would be on a 2lt. So he closed the hood and placed the used filter on the car. No I didn't kick his dog before the oil change.

Yeah. But the car was on the lift. And the filter was somewhere - on bench maybe. Then he lowers the car, and opens the hood to put the fresh oil back in. Now he closes the hood. Then he picks up the filter an puts it on the hood where the camera would be on a 1LT - which is pretty much next to the roof. It just seems bizarre.
Maybe it was intentionally placed on the car. Idk. But you do bring up an important point. How else did it get there? Bizarre.
Funny enough I was assured on arrival they have Corvette specialists working on the cars.

This is why I avoid at all cost having someone else work on any car I own. With regard to maintenance - and this is not unique to dealerships, there are very low or no standards for hiring in most positions. Unlike our foreign counterparts who have a system of entry into maintenance as a journeyman followed with mentorship and education along with upholding rigorous standards and testing, dealerships basically hire people off the street. There are exceptional individuals out there who have their own personal high standards for performance and competence, but most are simply doing a job. The performance of that oil change individual who screwed the paint on you Corvette says more about the dealership than the individual. I would never go back.
Insofar as 'this' generation is concerned, I think things have gotten worse. I know this is said about every upcoming generation going way back in time, but there are simply too many distractions now. And there is no penalty for mediocrity. I personally can't stand working with mediocrity and tend, over time, to isolate myself from such people. You could say I have few very select colleagues and friends lol.
And as someone used to say in closing: and that's the way it is........

Great news that they were able to get the paint fixed. Someone would have a lot of explaining to do on just how the damaged paint happened.

Yeah going to the dealer for an oil change and making sure they know how to properly lift the car and the quantity of oil used shouldn't be a thing.

I had a ring in that area of the roof from the factory. It was apparently residue from a suction cup. Been reported by others on this forum. Came off with a little cleaner/wax. Are you sure it was from an oil filter?

Wallace wanted $800 to add 2 quarts and do the DCT filter change with my part. They had no idea about the hydraulic system flush.
Unfortunately it seems to be a not uncommon experience among a number of dealerships.

You'll probably get a survey from GM. Answer it honestly.

The ring you speak of was on the removable part of the roof, was it not? That isn't where the OP said the ring was on his car.

I noticed it immediately while walking by the car in my garage. I had previously washed and waxed the car from head to toe. This gives me the opportunity to inspect the car every time I do this and it wasn't there before. This was new. Not 100% it was the residue from the filter, but similar diameter with 3 dots/holes. The staff at the dealer seemed to agree with me that it could have been the filter that left the imprint.
