Default Externally locking door without using key-fob

I know that this might be a silly question from a newbie, but is there a way to lock the C8's driver's side door from the outside of the vehicle without having to press the lock button on the key-fob, but with the key-fob in one's pocket?
Thank you in advance.

it can automatically lock if you want it to. I think it’s standard(?) on all corvettes.

I have the auto lock on mine and I love it. It ruins me when I drive another car because I forget to lock it

Already done, but I assume that there is a delay between walking away from the car and when the locking takes place, and I would feel safer being able to lock immediately upon exit.

You can set delay lock times in vehicle setting...

It's only a 10 second delay.

But 10 seconds is enough time for a car jacker lurking nearby to make his or her move. I know, my concern may be pure paranoia, but depending upon where one lives it could translate to reality. The C8 is my second—fun car—car, and I have a 2023 7 series BMW whose door can instantaneously lock with a touch of the recessed handle ... I was looking for something of that nature. But I can live with the lock button on the key-fob if that is the only option to an instant lock.
Thank you all for your responses.

Yeah it’s a 5 second delay according to the manual. Honestly, I’m like 3-5 steps away by the time it locks. Just enough time to look back at it every time I walk a way. Often times I’m close enough to hear the locks click (I have the horn off)

But other than that, to answer the original question no there’s no other way other than the fob

As you are getting out, just hit the lock button on the inside door panel. When you close the door, it will be locked. So will the passenger side. And that is the way I do it. I don't like the auto lock when I walk away, and I don't like messing with the FOB.

Thank you, that sounds like a workable solution, and I will follow your advice.

FWIW, I have the horn sound when it locks (also an option.) Yep I'm ~25 to 50 feet away but anyone close will know it's Locked. Frankly I park at the end of all lots usually >100 feet from anyone. Have done that with my 6 Vettes, all DDs, since my 1988! Never have had an issue. In our rural area, unlike larger cities, very seldom have a full lot! Never have to look for a space! Good exercise!

I generally do and have done the same with parking lots, but here in S Florida someone invariably goes out of their way to park their jalopy so close to your car that it is impossible to get in or out. A spiteful lot they are. And there is no way I can get my 6'1" frame in or out of the C8 without fully opening the driver's side door.

You can enable auto window drop. If your car is a coupe you can lean in, release the panel and remove the roof to gain entry. Lot of work but a way to get in. The HTC can lower with the fob.

...it's a terrible thing to walk through life in fear that something might happen.... your car may end up owning you, rather than the other way around.... at the end of the day: they're all just cars.

There is not one place that you should not lock your car.
