So Chuck at Caughlin Says To Inflate your Tires to 50 PSI

I think Chuck thoughts are old fashion. Newer tires don’t get flat spots like years ago. After many 4 months of storage over the years, a simple drive, the tires were fine.
His co-host mentioning buying ramps, isn’t necessary either.

I used to own an AM General M1025 HMMWV (TOW Carrier) for 23+ years. It had Goodyear MTR's all the way around. HOLY HELL, flat spotting was a major issue because it sat a lot (not because it didn't run, I just didn't drive it much...quite often got pulled over by cops thinking it was stolen)
The flat spots would be such an issue until the tires came up to temperature a little that I had to get liquid mercury harmonic dampeners installed on all 4 hubs. Those dampeners were pretty cool and would keep the vehicle from shaking itself to pieces before the wheels warmed up.
For winter, I set my C8 tires to 2 PSI below the typical rating because I am filling them COLD. They usually warm up to perfect pressure, and I never noticed any flat spotting effects.

I do have a few vehicles that I do not use for several months during the winter. I recently started keeping the inflation near the max rated on the sidewalls. The tire pressure will vary with ambient temp so, I keep an eye to make sure they do not exceed max PSI. . In my experience, I have found this reduces/eliminates any tendency to flat spot.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.....

Anybody remember these? I think you could get them from J.C. Whitney.

Those appear to be quite a bit smaller than the ones on the HMMWV, but same technology for sure. They work too...

You do know that the recommended pressure on the door placard is COLD pressure, right? Warmed up they should read more than 30 psi. If yours are 30 psi warm, you're underinflating them.
