Just attend C8 COS at Spring Mountain
Just completed the C8 COS at Spring Mountain on the 13th & 14th. Our class got to experience something not many classes there get a chance to...............driving in the rain! It rained on our second day! It doesn't rain often in the desert so it was special. Personally I liked the opportunity to drive in those conditions. I feel it forced you to concentrate on your line on the track even more than you might on dry pavement in order to maintain car control. While the laps were not as fast the experience was valuable, in my opinion. Just like the C7 course I took in 2016 I enjoyed this course just as much, if not more.

Drifting
Tracking someone else’s car in the rain is always fun.
rain makes you better…. You were very lucky to get a chance to do that.
I bet some guys were pissed it rained, … But I think you have the right perspective.
good-on you!!!

You do get some wet experience at Spring Mountain. It's a low speed autocross-like circuit on flooded pavement. Students are invited to spin the car out on turns. This phase is done with driver's assist turned off; particularly traction control. This is done with an instructor in the car. After the student has done a few whop-dee-doos, the instructor turns on weather driving control and asks the student to once again spin out the car. I was just a visitor, from what I saw and from drivers' comments it's not possible to spin out the car, at least not possible at the relatively slow speeds being driven.

I was there as well Monday and Tuesday but for the Level 1 class. It was fun driving in the rain, I ran a 1.44 on day 1 which was dry and then ran a 2.07 on day 2 in the rain. these times were on the east track opened up to 2.1 miles instead of the 1.5.

Awesome pic!
Glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for coming back!
Driving in the rain is a very educational experience for sure, as it forces you to be smoother, and concentrate that much more.
cheers!
