Default Can we use old GM credit card purchase cash towards a C8 purchase?

We are a GM Employee family and I know there is no GM Employee discount available on the C8 but I have a C8 pending arrival at a local dealer (late March or April) and my wife has an old GM credit card with a few thousand bucks of purchase credit (or whatever it's called). Is that applicable to my C8 or is that dealer specific? My wife has had that card for decades and we've never used its purchase credit for a new car purchase, I think, because it hasn't been possible to stack with certain GM Employee pricing and incentives we've always leased with. But since the C8 can't take advantage of Employee pricing and I'm buying it, I figured it was worth asking.

You probably need to check. My recollection from some time ago was that some cards never expired (unless they were canceled) and others had an expiry after a certain period on non-use.

To be clear, the credit card is still active. I just wasn't sure if anyone has had any luck applying GM credit card purchase cash towards a C8 or if C8s are excluded from any and all GM credit card discounts?

May I ask how much you applied towards it? Is there a max you can apply to the C8? I haven't pulled up my wife's account in a while but I want to say she had built up $2,000 or $3,000. That would be incredible if we could apply all of it.

I’ve got a GM Card with their original program from 1995 still. 5% back towards the purchase of ANY new GM vehicle, up to $500 per year and up to 7 years for a max of $3500 off. However, after 7 years, the points do start rolling off and you have to keep using the card to earn more points as they roll off if you want to keep your $3500 off. You need to call Marcus who is the new administrator of the GM Card and see what the point balance is now, but I’m planning to use mine when my C8 gets here without any issues.

…my post above describes the original program that I’m still grandfathered into. The program has changed several times over the years and one version did have redemption limits based on what model you were trying to buy…. If you didn’t tell them you wanted to change to whatever the new program morphed into every time they changed it, then you could stay grandfatherd into whatever program was going when you originally got the card.

I’ve used my “points” several times over the years and probably gotten close $7K off over 4 or 5 cars since I first used it on a new ‘96 Camaro…

I used $2k in rewards points from my GM card as part of my down-payment for my 23 C8. GM card used to be Capitol One, now it's Marcus Goldman Sachs.

Same here. I have redeemed over 21k over the years. Had about $2600 that I used on the vette in October of 21 on my 22.
Just used $1100 on my Denali. I had $600 and gm added $500 as a promotion in January.
Way back when they used to allow 1k/year up to 7k total. I used over 5k on a silverado a long time ago.

As several folks posted above, I have the “old” GM Card that allows $500/year to be accumulated and then it starts to roll off after 7 years. Also no cap on the amount that could be redeemed on each purchase. I redeemed about $3800 on my 2020 and about $700 on my 2022. Check the latest credit card statement to see how much has been accumulated and can be redeemed. Your dealer should be able to handle the redemption.

Suggest you contact your selling dealership. With the credit card number they can lookup how much you may receive. Did this with my 2021 C8 and they answered the same day I asked they would be applying ~$2200 credit from my GM card toward car price.

Asking a bunch of strangers on a Forum won’t help you because there are different programs. For my particular program, I was able to redeem $1,500 in GM Card points. Your program may be different. Just log on and look. It will tell you how much you can redeem on a Corvette.

Get in touch with your card issuer for accurate, up to date info, but as far as I know you can use the points on your card towards the purchase of the car. Sometimes there is a limit on what model of car and how much can be used.
