Is this your first Corvette?
I'm came back to the Corvette Forum after having been away for a couple of years (Maserati and Challenger in between) since I'm thinking about a C7 or C8. Started researching the C8 used car prices and I'm a little shocked at how high they are. I also think C7 prices are kept higher because of this. I have time before pulling the trigger. I can wait to see if the Fed will help to lower the prices because of the interest rates hike. I'm also wondering if some first time C8 owners will conclude that owning a Vette doesn't fit them and will decide to move on. The reason I'm wondering is because I know a couple of first time Vette buyers and they are not sure about keeping their car much longer. As an aside, I told one first time owner I know that I have owned both a C3 and C6 and he asked me what that meant. I had to tell him he bought a C8 (Yeah really. He had just bought a loaded 3LT at hefty premium back in 2020). I also think those that paid a hefty dealer mark up are going to have eat it sooner or later.
So I'm curious. Is this first your first Vette and if so, are you planning to keep it?
Thanks!

I have owned (5). C3, C4, C6, C7, and within weeks a C8. You really cant compare generation to generation, as each gen leapfrogs the last. While C3 was a good sports car in the 70s, by today's standards it is bad. My C7 was an excellent car, but the C8 leapfrogs that.

This is my first Vette. My last 3 cars were Mopar ( 300C, Challenger RT and Challenger SRT).
I have always wanted a Corvette my entire life and now that my kids are grown up and finished college it was finally the right time at age 50.
I am in love with my 2020 C8. Its the best car I've ever owned. I have over 30,000kms on it and have never had it to the dealer for anything other than scheduled maintenance. I love it so much in fact I drive it 365 days a year and even through the Canadian winters.
I went to my dealer in December 2021 to put a deposit down on a new Convertible as well as the Z06. Here I am 14 months later and my order has not even been matched to an allotment. Its ok though as I count myself very luck to have gotten one of the first 2020's.
The way things are going I don't think I will ever see the Z06 but I'm confident my time will come for the convertible and for me that will be a keeper.

First vette was a C7 which was recently replaced w/ the C8. Will replace the C8 with the Z06 once my number gets called. Will then likely keep the Z06 till the wheels fall off.

First Vette was a C3 1969.....my 2022 C8 is my fifth, and most likely my last. Loved them all....C3, C6, C7, C7 GS and C8....

The C8 is only my 2nd Corvette. First was the 17 Z06 M7. I currently have a 23 HTC Z51. I do miss the power of the Z06 occasionally. However the C8 is just simply a joy to drive. I’ve always had a manual in my sports car until now. I’ve only had the C8 since August and have about 2600 miles in. I actually haven’t missed the manual yet.
That being said I had a 16 M3 with a DCT and only kept it a year before being bored with it. That’s when I went with the Z. I was actually a Mustang guy prior.

This will be my first one, and first time owning a 2-seater rather than Sedan, SUV or truck. Plan is to keep long term, but we’ll see how it goes and/or if life circumstances change.

The C8 (bought last month) was car #484 I have owned a C5, C6 Z06, C7 and this one. I have said this before the C8 is the best out of the box car (that includes 45 Porsche's 8 Ferrari's 3 Lamborghini's, 4 Maserati's 79 BMW's 81 Mercedes you get the idea) out of all of them. Sad to say but it makes my 458 spider look bad.

This is my first Corvette. I have never been too interested in owning a Corvette until this one came out.

yep first corvette and first sports car, I'm 38 years old - already planning on picking up some white NB sneakers and jean shorts for the museum delivery!
My father, whom i hated as a person, had great taste in cars. His daily for years and years was a 1980 red with white interior. later in life after I stopped speaking to him I heard he got a 2016 z51 vert before passing away.
It has been a love affair for me ever since, and I'm not even a car guy overall. When i came ashore from sea at 24/25 i almost bought a z06, but decided to be a responsible young adult and bought a townhome... should have gotten the corvette and lived in it instead ha!
100% will keep the c8 and drive the ***** out of it as many miles as i possibly can go for as long as the car will keep on keeping on.
fwiw - waiting on allocation but im "close" lololol
2023 - HTC - EHB - 2LT - FRONT LIFT - MAG - Z51 - NATURAL INT - YELLOW CALIPERS
mostly stock otherwise.

I had a C1 (1960) that I bought used when I got out of the Navy around 1969. Sold it to buy a 1965 Griffith Series 200 GT which I kept for 16 years. That car was a hoot. 1500lbs/340HP. 0-60 IN 3.8 sec. Quick for the 1960s.
