Is this your first Corvette?

This is my story too....but probably around 17 or 18 years old before I wanted one. My dad had a 1984 C4 that I got to drive every now and then. The 2021 HTC is my first Corvette and plan to keep until no longer able to get fuel for it.

Coming from the Mustang world, I am a soon to be first time Vette owner. I hit 3400 status last week. I have wanted a Corvette for a very long time. I plan to keep it for 5 years or until I need something else

I always loved the C1 and C2 designs and respected the performance value of modern Corvettes, but never wanted any of the ones made in the last couple
of decades. Z51 C8 was my first Corvette almost 3 years ago. Kept it for a year and really enjoyed it but I knew I wanted a little more and had some issues with the rear design. I sold it after a year and put myself on the MM Z06 list. I’m definitely excited for the Z06.

My C8 is my fifth. Before this one had a 2019 GS, 2014 Stingray Vert., 2008 vert, and a 2004 CE coupe.
I won my C8 from the Corvette Museum raffle last September. I feel like I will keep it forever because trading it or selling it seems like me giving away my luck and good fortune. The whole journey of winning it, taking delivery at the museum, and the stories that go with it would make it hard to part with her.

C8 is my first corvette ever. Always loved the c6/c7, but never had the opportunity to own either. I’ve had other American v8 cars but the c8 is something special.
The only other car I would have is the Z06 or Eray (preferably z06)

Its my first and I will keep it forever and ever. Always thought corvettes were cool when I was younger but never saw myself owning one. Then one day as I was driving to work I saw something cool looking but had no clue what it was. Turns out it was a C8 and I took it for a test drive. Got on a list not long after that and the rest is history. I proposed to mi espoa with the C8 so I kind of have to keep it forever anyway.

Nope. The Corvettes I've owned, in order are:
1978 Coupe
2001 Coupe
2006 Coupe
1964 Convertible (still have)
1969 Convertible (still have)
2021 HTC (still have)
I've loved them all. Each was pretty much the best American sports car you get at the time, and at least in some respects the best sports car, period.

I'm came back to the Corvette Forum after having been away for a couple of years (Maserati and Challenger in between) since I'm thinking about a C7 or C8. Started researching the C8 used car prices and I'm a little shocked at how high they are. I also think C7 prices are kept higher because of this. I have time before pulling the trigger. I can wait to see if the Fed will help to lower the prices because of the interest rates hike. I'm also wondering if some first time C8 owners will conclude that owning a Vette doesn't fit them and will decide to move on. The reason I'm wondering is because I know a couple of first time Vette buyers and they are not sure about keeping their car much longer. As an aside, I told one first time owner I know that I have owned both a C3 and C6 and he asked me what that meant. I had to tell him he bought a C8 (Yeah really. He had just bought a loaded 3LT at hefty premium back in 2020). I also think those that paid a hefty dealer mark up are going to have eat it sooner or later.
So I'm curious. Is this first your first Vette and if so, are you planning to keep it?
Thanks!

After owning both mid-engine Porsche cayman and boxster, I moved on due to lack of power. However, the mid-engine balance is something that makes driving a dream.
I tried going back to a front engine performance Audi but it was dull in comparison.
The C8 has the rare combination of power and balanced handling that only a mid engine car can provide. The only other option for me was a 911 and the C8 is a bargain in comparison.
Taking delivery in a few weeks!!

This is actually my first American car also. I’ve only owned Hondas/acuras/nissan and came from the import car scene.
I love the styling of the C8, feel, drive, etc. A lot of car for the price. It’s Probably one of the best things I’ve ever bought.

My first and . Like TD20 my first American car. Extremely impressed with the fit, finish, and overall build quality. Took delivery in October and put on 500 miles before putting it away for the winter. Waited 49 years for this car. Fell in love with Corvettes when I was 13. Neighbor had a 68 and I was hooked.

Will be my 5th. 97 C5, 2007 C6, 2009 C6 Z06, 2016 C7 Z06. My order for a RM HTC should be here in about 8 weeks. Plan to keep the 16Z to ensure I really like the C8. The C8 is a terrific car but the Z is different so will see how it all works out. I have a couple of street rods that will keep me mechanically involved.

I've only owned Mustangs, a 2003 V6, 2011 GT 5.0 , and a 2017 Shelby GT350
Comparing my C8 to the the 350 I will say the voodoo 5.2L engine is more rewarding to rev but the C8 chassis overall is another level from Mustang/Camaro/Challenger/M4/C63 ... def more aluminum than steel.
All my friends graduated to 911s but I prefer the American attitude of the C8.

Rumpelstiltskin? Is that you? Seriously, even if you were off this forum how are you oblivious to the impact that the pandemic and supply chain issues have had on new and used car prices? As for new owners losing interest, demand is still outpacing supply. It IS catching up, but we are on the 4th MY and folks have been on here for years hoping “next year” prices will crash so they can get one.

I'm on my 10th Vette now - a C7. Have had two C3s, four C4s, three C5s and the C7 and each one has been a joy to own. Perhaps some day I'll go for a C8, and I would expect it to be just as much joy to own as my others.
