Default Squeaky roof behind seats

Has anyone had a roof that squeaks? I have a C8 convertible and it has developed a squeak. Took dealer for a ride but have not heard back from them. Looking for a solution to this annoying squeak.

It's probably your rear window. Crack it down a bit to see if that cures it. If so, put a thin layer of Honda Shin Etsu grease along the top edge of the glass where it rides against the seals.

Ear plugs work wonders. Must be a really loud squeak to hear it over the sound of that V8 behind you.

Default Squeak

Haha, but it is loud enough to hear. Even with the radio blasting! Maybe earplugs are the answer.

Open the roof part way and put silicone grease on the rubber sealing surfaces and then wipe off the excess. This is a common problem with a known solution. May need to repeat every few months or each year.

Make sure the seatbelt loops on the seats are fasten. My HTC was making noise, which sounded like it was coming from the front-top but determined it was the seatbelt loops on the outer seats that were unsnapped... it solved the problem.

"Make sure the seatbelt loops on the seats are fastened."

Happened to me too. It amazed me the seat belts could make a sound like that.

Use some silicone dielectric grease on rubber seals. a very light film will take care of it. That is what a dealer uses. Squeaks are pretty common on convertibles overtime on the seals. And it will help preserve the rubber.

Thanks. I will see if that works. My car is only a year old. Pretty weird that it would squeak so soon. Oh well.

Have you lubricated the top edge?

Yes. Didn't make a difference. Dealer tightened some bolts too and it helped for about 200 miles but the rattle is back. Dealer greased it too and it helped for about 15 miles.

You are depressing me. $90,000 and it squeaks like a pig. I won't be happy if this doesn't go away.

P
You have a squeak, not a rattle. The grease will work just fine.

Why are you responding to this - GWiz1219 was the original poster.

Also, you have a rattle, not a squeak - totally different issues.
