If you think that is bad, you have never met a "Banana Rat" before.
They are really more like nutrias or small to medium sized beavers. I think technically they are called hutias.
Apparently they love the taste of brake fluid, electrical wire insulation, PVC tape, plastics, etc.
They will eat through your brake lines and electrical wiring harnesses.

News Flash! Rodents can access more ways than a clear engine cover can ever prevent.

My friend lives in a very rural part of eastern Oregon. His car (not a Corvette) is always parked outside He went for a drive and heard some really weird thumping noises from the engine bay, not relative to engine speed.
He stopped and lifted the hood, a rabbit was sitting on top of the battery. He (the rabbit) quickly made an escape. No more noises.

First time I took my engine cover off my 2020, there was a dead rat very similar to the one in the picture. Now have more traps setup in my garage. Living in rural areas, this is a bigger problem than for those living in the city. Cleaning the intake manifold after rat removal was no fun. Fortunately, it didn't do any damage. Nobody thinks the clear cover will keep anything out of the engine compartment, but being able to keep an eye on things will help. I'm a gear head, and not being able to open a hood and see your engine takes some getting used to. The black engine cover is easily removed, but the clear cover would be more convenient.

Has anybody heard if Scrape Armor has rodent protection screens under development for the C8 ? I will be looking for it to be an RPO (rodent protection option) sometime in the future !
Of course, I expect GM will say it's not necessary because rodent damage and dead rats are purely cosmetic !
