Default Luggage Capacity?

How much luggage a C8 hold? Vacation being planned to the West Coast and will have 1 large checked bag, and 1 or 2 carryon bags. Want to rent a sports car for a week, probably through Turo.
Any other suggestions?

Your large, checked bag likely will not fit in the C8

It might fit in the passenger seat....

1 carry on in the frunk and 2 carry ons in the trunk. And then there will be some space for smaller soft bags/items.

Have a good trip.

It's for my son's honeymoon. His wife will be the passenger!

Pack light, and pack in multiple soft side bags.
I once took a trip to Europe, where I had a Volkswagen Passant reserved. I took my bags ( like you had planned, one large one and a couple smallones)
to the local Volkswagen dealer and tried them in a Passant. They fit.

Go to your local Chevrolet dealer and try them in a Vette.

This is great info. He will have to either downsize or maybe get a C7. Thanks!

Watch the video in post 6. You can then go to the club glove site and see the dimensions of each piece that was discussed in the video. You can then buy Club Glove Luggage - its excellent quality - or use other pieces of similar size.

Large or even medium checked bags will not fit in the frunk or rear. We were able to take hard side carry-on roller bags, the carry-on "plus" sizes (22-inch I think). Two can fit in the trunk, and one can fit in the frunk. Then we used soft side bags for everything else.

In general, soft bags are the way to go, even the video above shows rolling duffles and soft bags. The C8 has a good amount of space, it's just odd shaped.

Make sure she puts her makeup bag or anything else that heat might impact in the frunk. The trunk has a engine right beside it and I use that for carry-out from restaurants.

Default C7 coupe vs C8

Luggage capacity is a deal breaker for us. We love traveling in our C7's. First a 2015 Z51 vert and now a 2019 GS coupe. Couldn't do it in a C8. C8 has about as much cargo capacity as a Cessna 150!

Its advertised as 12.6 cu ft in the 2021 brochure for both coupe and vert. Although the vert trunk is shaped slightly differently. But that alone is not sufficient to figure out what can be carried. The video above is pretty much the way to see what it can carry, and how to pack it.

Excellent point. I discovered the trunk gets very hot on long road trips, not just makeup but keep that in mind for anything you are concerned with heat. I don't put electronics back there either. On short trips like a grocery run its not bad, but really builds up on a road trip.

4 soft side duffels, 10x10x20. Two in frunk, two in trunk. Also a six pair shoe bag, a pile of microfiber towels, first aid kit, air compressor and tire repair kit, glass cleaner and waterless car wash. Still room for some souvenirs. Been using this system with C5, C6 and now C8.

I have to disagree. Sure, luggage space in the C7, especially the coupe, is easier to handle bigger bags. The biggest issue with the C8 is the odd-shaped cargo area means that large checked suitcases cannot fit. But with soft bags, you can fit plenty of luggage for 2 people.

Even my wife and I did just fine with a weeklong trip flying to Kentucky and driving home in the C8, and my wife is a notorious over-packer. Just her bathroom bag is a small suitcase worth of stuff! I made sure she did not take her huge checked bag, and figured I did not want to risk it with the medium size one either. Since we did not have the car yet, I was not sure what would fit. So we took two 22" extra-length carry on hard side rollers, and then two soft bags. Each roller had a soft bag strapped to it, so we could wheel through the airports without looking like pack mules. I carried a laptop bag and she had a shoulder bag for a carry-on. When we loaded the C8 everything fit without any problems, lots of room to spare even. After doing it, I can see that some 24" checked suitcases would fit, just need to test them. Ones with hidden wheels would help.

Its not as roomy as other cars for sure, but its by no means a dealbreaker. If you can live without big 26" bags, everything else seems to fit decently well.

Added this link, shows the medium bags fitting.

Wife and I got the Club Gove bags as shown in the video in this thread. We flew to Bowling Green with these bags packed, and took a three week road trip home to Arizona. Adequate room for all our stuff. We did launder T-shirts, socks and underwear during the trip.

My wife 9x17x26 Rimowa roller fits in the front trunk fine with a large cabin bag. For the back I use soft luggage. The back does get hot about 140 degrees on a longer trip.
