This is the same notice I got from OnStar every time the alarm went off. It is, apparently, a generic notice and doesn’t help anyone isolate the actual cause. It is not related to the doors or frunk/trunk really being ajar.

care to comment @Chevy Cust Svc ? Seems like this isn’t an isolated issue.

Hi @StanNH long time no chat. Sorry about your issues. I have held off buying a C8 (Traded in the Boxster on a Macan). But after my watching the C6 Z06 forum and all the valve dropping issues I decided to wait. Kinda glad I did wait. A lot has happened since we last chatted but suffice it to say it hasn't been a good year personally. Hope you are doing well.

Recall another possibility I had with my early Vettes. I parked my Vettes at the local airport when I travel. Have not the C8 but did my two C7s and prior 3. Recall I added a movement alarm to an early Vette and had it set very sensitive. It blew the horn for like 30 seconds once tripped. Always parked the with a car cover and close to where you pay as it was staffed 24/7. Although commercial planes did not come in after midnight we have many private planes as well as some of the car rental folks stayed open late and opened early. We have many folks fly into our airport from Charlotte and rent cars to go to Myrtle Beach. Knew all the attendants. Recall when I came back from a few days out of town the fellow said the night attendant was complaining because it was windy and the alarm kept going off! (Probably woke him up!)

The C8 alarm is not that sensitive although it has scarred me several times when I was jacking the car and forgot to turn it off!

Mine just went off TWICE a few minutes ago inside the garage. Woke us and our 3 dogs.

The first time it shut off before I could get my key fob.

The second time I had my key fob.

Default ***update***

Today, I found the source of the false alarms my C8 had last night...

We inadvertently trapped a lady bug inside when we closed the top after our cruise.

The motion sensor picked it up every time it flew around.

The lady bug is now free to go bug the other C8 HTC in our neighborhood.

I also have this issue, has been doing it for 3 weeks now. Have had the car since APR 21’ . Appointment with dealer in 2 weeks. Went off 3 times last night

Traveling for the summer, so car is on a trickle charger now and unlocked in my garage. Before I left, GM had a monitoring module installed for ten days. Alarm never went off … of course. They removed that module and now we will start all over again when I get back. The car's computer log records the alarm events, but doesn’t give them enough data to isolate the cause. That monitoring module apparently provides live data as the alarm goes off but, of course, the alarm has to go off.

I don't doubt there is an issue which set off alarms.

Not often, it has happened to me with the remote in a front pocket of my pants if I might press my leg against the arm of a couch or something else, or perhaps other items or keys in my pocket.

This random alarm going off inside my garage also started happening this weekend. 2021 HTC truck and frunk verified shut.

Are there any commonalities, year make, age, updates?

What happens with these delicate systems when connections become more resistive due to dirt, corrosion and vibration?

I'm sure GM has considered this primarily but as usual the customer is left to guess.

Could be a critter! When i had my radar detector high on the windshield with a suction cup mount, had added a tether so if it let lose it would not hit the dash. In 10 years only let lose on a hot summer day when parked with the car facing the sun. The air left n the ~2"diameter Escort "Sticky Mount" suction cup would heat and the detector would hang from the tether. Alarm would go off.

A moth etc could do the same.

Movement sensors would have to have precise calibration to discern movement of a moth on the inside of the glass vs. outside? I've worked with expensive vision systems where this minute adjustment isn't possible though I'm unsure of the detection method for these car security systems.

Latest update. GM sent my dealer another module that would record any alarm incident and, hopefully, provide enough information to find the trigger. Last time they did this, the alarm never tripped for the two weeks the module was installed. This time the alarm went off six times in ten days. On Friday the module was pulled and returned to GM, so I'm now just waiting to hear from them with the results. They have already said that if they can not fix the alarm this time around, they will start a buyback for me.

Recap of the history: first time alarm tripped was the day I picked the car up. It went off with the motion sensor disabled, and after the sensor module was replaced. It happens regardless of which fob is used, or where it is parked. It has gone off when the car is well out of fob range. It takes at least twenty minutes after the car is locked to go off, but has also taken several hours. It has gone off more than once without the car being restarted. The car's computer always records the events, and always reports a theft attempt. OnStar, when I had it, always reported trunk or door ajar … but they never were and checked out fine. This is now into its tenth month and still has GM totally stumped.

On the positive side, the only other problem I've had has been a broken plastic latch on the console, which was quickly replaced by the dealer. Great car, but this has become quite the PITA.

Yep does not take much to set it off.

For ~10 years mounted my radar detector high on the windshield and installed a short tether so IF the suction cup mount let lose it would not hit the dash. ONLY time it let lose was when stopped in my two C7s and C8 on a hot summer day if parked facing the sun. What air was left in the suction cup, heated and it let lose. The tether held it hanging from a small eyelet, but the alarm went off and had an intruder message when I got in.

Used this mount for ~10 years, ~71/2 years with 2 C7s and 2 1/2 with my C8. Short Tether prevented it from hitting the dash IF it came lose.

Even when I moved the detector to low on the windshield ~6 months ago used the Tether.

Recently decided to eliminate the Escort "Sticky Mount" and use 3M Dual Lock (great stuff) to attach to a wood block and the block to the dash, also with 3M Dual Lock. Just removed as selling the 2020 while waiting for my E-Ray. Will install in a few minutes on the E-Ray! Made a new mount with ~3/8-inch material with Dual Lock top and bottom in front of the detector making it 3/4 inch high. The rear will just use two Dual Lock pieces making it level!

Wouldn't it be obvious to the poster if a radar detector had set off his alarm system, Nice pictures, BTW.
