I'm glad you splurged on her car and added some more fun to the last year or two. I wish you and your wife comfort and peace. Thank you for sharing your story.

Sorry to hear about the diagnosis.
My neighbor across the street did something very similar when his wife passed. He took her license plate off and stuck it on his vehicle. It says "LIV A LTTLE"

I am so sorry to hear this but thank you for sharing. Life is short and precious. A good reminder to enjoy our time and our loved ones while we can…and not sweat the little stuff.

We had been Corvette owners in the past and, at the time, owned another C1. In 2019 my wife of 47 years had been reading a lot about the C8. She then asked out of the blue if we could get one. I figured we “can’t take it ($) with us” so why not but she would do all the research on who had an allocation and it would be “her C8” and registered as such. We ordered one as a 2020 birthday present for her. Got booted out of the 2020 model year and had to re-order a 2021. 18 months later we took museum delivery of a 2LT Torch Red coupe (license plate ‘ HER C8’). To my delight they treated her like royalty there and she also did the track experience with me.
She was so damn proud of that car and loved to talk to folks about it at the car shows we would attend. On our following 49th anniversary I surprised her with the factory build book she did not know I ordered. We only drive it to car shows or other special occasions and once in a while she even lets me drive it so it doesn’t have a lot of miles. This past September we drove it to our Golden anniversary party and shortly thereafter was put away for the winter.
Two days before Christmas 2022 her present was a diagnosis with a brain tumor. Before they transported her to another hospital she pulled me close and said ‘ No matter what happens don’t let my brother or sister drive my car’. Biopsy done on her 70th birthday. She has a couple of months, maybe weeks left. I will most likely keep it with her plate on it. Live and love while you can.

Really sad. Struck home here. My wife, best friend, companion of 30 years was unexpectedly diagnosed with liver cancer. Her only symptom was just slightly elevated liver enzymes on a routine 3 times a year blood test. At the time she was active, robust, completely normal. She only lived 10 months. I hope I can be as brave as her when I go. Absolutely the worst experience for the victim and the survivor.

Wow- I did tear up a lot when reading this- May God bless and comfort you and your wife in these difficult times. I can relate as my wife of 47 years also recovering from cancer and myself a 14 year survivor of the dreaded C word. You cant take it with you- life is short and enjoy your time with loved ones and enjoy lifes little pleasures along the way- coffee on the porch- playing with the dog- enjoying a cruise in your favorite car/Corvette is special- we will both pray for you tonight.

2023 C1 of the Year Finalist - Modified
Update; Thanks to all for the kind words. To those asking how difficult it was to write this all I can say is that it was very therapeutic for me. I'm getting numb over it and I actually prefer it that way. For those who say 'its hard to find a good mate' I can say I always knew I found a unicorn. In 50 years I could never bring myself to even raise my voice at her. She is a master cook and always kept me well fed. She was self taught in computers and retired as a director of IT for a big textile company. She became a private pilot and I bought her her own airplane (1960 Cessna 12). We retired from CT to MI and happen to be about 3 miles from one of the largest sportsman's clubs in the state. I asked her if she wanted to try long distance rimfire rifle shooting (she never fired a rifle) and within several years is now regarded as one of the top marksmen in a club of about 750 members.
After biopsy her glioblastoma is in one of the worst spots possible and is progressing rapidly. We took her to one of leading brain surgeons in the country in Manhattan NY but now we are trying to move her to a local hospice as it looks like she will never see her beloved MI again. Somehow I knew something like this would happen because I've been so very extremely lucky during my whole life and for the last 5-8 years knew my luck was bound to run out and something bad would happen. You damn women out there are supposed to have longer lifespans then us men.
