Default “Roll Bar” padding

I was thinking that it would be nice to have some padding on the roll bar (for lack of a better term) on the coupe. I’m about 6’2” and like to sit tall in the saddle. The problem is getting brained on that bar behind my head. It would be a really big problem if I got rear-ended because it’s steel (or maybe hefty aluminum?) against bone with no protection. A nice, longish encapsulated self-adhesive pad behind my head would be a welcome addition to the car. I’m looking around at replacement pads for football helmets and military helmets but haven’t found anything that fits the bill yet.

Simple, take it to a good upholsterer and see what they may be able to do to help you. All the best.

Probably the first web search I should have done was “roll bar padding”. Here’s an example. I’ll just have to find the right dimensions and curvature then get it covered, as you said.

Don't use the cheap pipe insulation sold in the big box stores. It has NO impact protection.

What "roll bar" are you talking about?

On the coupe it’s the roof support immediately behind and above the occupant’s heads. It’s not a roll-bar actually but calling it that is the easiest way to describe it.

Very good suggestion and one that you can customize to suit your taste and interior.
