Default Clear Engine Cover

Well, it's been several months since I have read anything on the forum regarding the HTC clear engine covers being offered by various vendors. I'm taking that to mean that the covers may be actually working out as advertised. Makes me more seriously consider buying one..

I read that as not many adopters, the novelty of it has worn off, the car show season is over in most parts of the country, and most folks have just lost interest in it. My guess is that the vast majority of HTC owners, including myself, have no desire to put the engine on display.

I don't recall hearing about any supply shortage of this item either, which certainly isn't true of most other popular items these days.

If I did decide to put a blower on my HTC then I would want a clear cover.

That and the price is still too high for many. $5-600 is steep for a piece of plastic. I’d be in at $2-300. $500? No thanks. I did however pay nearly $500 for the Mods4cars HTC module so there’s that.

The OE edge red engine cover option has been on sale recently though the shopchevyparts store for $371 which I thought was a good price, so I purchased one...I recently purchased mine and added an emblem to it...

I bought one a couple months ago, it arrived broken. The vendor asked if I wanted another one and I opted for a refund as I didn’t think it was ready for prime time quite yet. The thickness was a little thin (only 10mils) and after they told me they didn’t want the pieces back I did some uncontrolled stress testing on the pieces and found it to be pretty brittle. If they come up with something a little stronger maybe I’ll try again.

The HTC engine cover is kind of cool, but I am also not sure it is $500-600 worth of cool. But, I have spent more money on items that others would probably think was not a good expenditure of funds.

FYI worth every penny IMO. Would I buy it again? Absolutely

And I did the same. Now I have to wait for spring to install it.

As someone with OCD, I'm wondering how easily the plastic cover will scratch or get swirl marks in it over time.

Like anything else with finish protection, as long as your taking the same amount of precaution and using quality products, MF clothes, coatings etc, it should be fine.

I finally saw one in person here in CA. The cover was so badly warped on some edges that I totally abandoned the idea of getting one.
And the warping I saw was not from "too tight" bolts. It was too deformed for that to be the cause, but it could have been amplified by that.

I am hoping the falcon designs concept does get to market, that I would buy since is a different design.

You must have seen a very cheap knockoff, all the one's I have seen look pretty spectacular, also asked the owners how long they've had it on, many said at least a year and in extreme heat. If you over tighten these things it'll lead to nothing but bad results.
