Default Off Button - Baffled

2023 HTC: In the cabin, on the overhead panel above the mirror, to the right (passenger) side of the emergency flasher button, there is a black button with a graphic "Off" and a yellow LED that lights when the button is pressed. There is also an audible sound when the button is pressed. What is this button? What does it do? I have scoured the Owner's Manual to no avail. Any help from the Forum?

It says to disable when pets are left in the vehicle but it is also a good idea when your wife is left in the vehicle...don't ask me how I know...

You may also want to tint the windows if your girlfriend is in the car, and you don't want your wife to see...

Or your teenage son, when you take on a trip to get your 500 mile break-in done in your first week of having the car.

Me: I need to run into the restroom, do you want a drink or do you want to stay in the car?
Him: I will stay in the car.
Me: Runs inside with key in pocket. Hearing horn honking outside, desperately trying to get key out of pocket to try to stop the alarm..... Come outside laughing to a deeply embarrassed son in car. He shifted in car to get phone of his pocket and the alarm went off, with college age girls looking on......

What I don't understand is when the top is off, its turned off... Seems to me that would be when you want it to be alarmed to keep people from reaching in

Well, there could be a big bird that flies in and sets the alarm off!

I always just left my key in the car with the occupant and they press the unlock button. Will try this way now.

Amazing how many Never look in their OM! And some wonder why only Cars seem to have printed OMs anymore - Lawyers probably.
OMs should be the first place to look then if unable to locate/find answer, then post a question.

On my 2020 HTC, contrary to what the owner's manual states, the intrusion alarm remains active with the top down. I need to remember to turn it off at car shows, or else when folks drop flyers onto the passanger seat advertising other car shows and products, the intrusion alarm is activated (horn and lights). My 2014 C7 rag top does cancel the intrusion alarm when the top is down.

My 2021 does the same thing. If the top is down the horn starts barking if there is movement inside unless I shut it off.
