Default Convertible Top rattle

Have 2020 LT3 Yellow Convertible.Developed noise like bolt not tight. Extremely bad when cold. As it warms up Rattles every 3-5 seconds instead of continuous . Been to dealer 3 times for the day and last week (14th-16th closing) Still rattling. GM said Talk to dealer first about buy back. I don't want a buyback first of all there are no replacements exactly like mine. Anyone had same problem and got fixed. Thanks Frank

Exactly. And I don't see GM doing a buyback on a "rattle," ie: a non-safety issue

Not one of the HTC owners I know has an issue with the top rattling. My C7 'vert never rattled either.

Is this when the top is up, or down, or both? Does it matter whether the back window is up or down?

Most state's Lemon Laws aren't limited to safety issues. They refer to problems that the manufacturer is unable to repair in a certain period of time.

I'm NOT suggesting the OP should invoke the lemon law, but your comment is irrelevant to buy backs, and if the lemon law applies GM doesn't get a choice in whether to buy the car back or not.

Pretty sure I read of a chev dealer in either your area or closer to/in richmond area known for good service. have you looked thru the advanced search function on here, or thru the regional section which is "southeast?"

southeast is: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/southeast-42/

after signing in, go to search in the red bar at top, then advanced search and in the top open space "keyword(s)" put in great C8 dealer service, richmond, virginia beach (or anything you think will be a good keyword). then, go down slowly on right there'll be a section called "upcoming events..." and "southeast" is in there. click on it. it'll highlight it in blue. then go further down to "search now" and hit that. see what comes up!

good luck.

Convertibles have always been the quieter models disappointing if this is common on the C8 HTC.

Don't think this is a common issue, first time I have heard of this. My HTC doesn't rattle.

It's not common. There are half a dozen HTCs in my club, and no one has said they have an issue with rattles. Mine doesn't rattle at all.

Mine rattles over bumps. This seems to be commonly reported. Dealer says it's a known issue.

Definitely NOT a common issue. The posts I've seen here about a HTC rattle/noise have mostly been attributable to the back window needing lube on top where it meets the rubber. My C8 HTC is 10 months old and I put the top down for driving and back up when parked in the garage, so the top gets a lot of use. Has never made any noise.

Dealer wants to avoid having to fix it, so they're trying to pawn it off as a "known issue."

21 htc 3LT here and no rattle at all. Only noise I gave is the back middle window squeaks when I go over bumps cause the weather stripping. If it’s damp out, or it’s warmer (summer) it doesn’t. Just when the stripping is cold and rigid

My HTC rattles once in a while, and I can hear that it is some clip that is loose right above my head. I use my close fist, and push it slightly right above my head and I hear a click, and then no more rattle. It's annoying, and it seems the clip comes back off every couple hundred miles or so. I have not had it looked at, because so far, so good, and it only takes a slight push upwards to fix it. I don't want to risk the dealer opening it up and start new rattles.

Guess we're not going to hear back from the OP, so no way to know what's going on with his.

This.

Every single SLK I had (another HTC, though a slightly different mechanism, had 4 of them during 13 year span) developed a buzzing vibration type rattle within a year of purchase that was never fixable or even located/pinned down. Somewhere two parts were close enough to touch and buzz/rattle but not able to be located, probably somewhere in the innards and I disnt want to take them apart to find it.

But my C8 HTC is silent even after a year and 5k miles, with plenty of bumpy roads having been traversed. I definitely do not think C8 HTC rattles are a common issue.
