C8 with Z51 for sure. Mag Ride YES or No ?
Been waiting over a year but soon my allocation/order will be up ! New to the forum, but have had 8 Corvettes over the past 40 years. Last one was an '09 ZR1. I'll be getting a 2023 HTC, 3LT, Z51,Front Lift and other options. Would appreciate input about the mag ride option. I understand what it is but my salesman says I'll never miss it unless I want to track the car. Let's face it...most of us will never track our cars ! I'm sure I never will. What concerns me is the resale value. I see a lot of C8's for sale but it seems a lot of people want the mag ride and shy away if it doesn't have it (whether they need it or not). Thanks up front for your thoughts !

Lots of threads on this, I have it on my Z51 HTC and would recommend it. There is a noticeable difference between tour, sport and track in ride quality. Probably the best thing I like about it is that I can set the suspension differently from the other settings in my mode. For example I have My Mode set to Suspension (tour) steering/brakes (sport) and exhaust (track). Of course without mag ride there is My Mode as well, but you can't configure the suspension separately unless you have mag ride.

If it is not going to break your budget (frankly, it should not), go for the FE4. Like the Z51 package itself, it is not a waste if you never take the car to the track.

This topic gets beaten to death and argued about at least once a month. Opinions are all over the map. You can sample them in the link below, which also contains links to other debates on the subject.

Thanks for the links guys. Was looking more specifically at resale opinions with or without mag ride. Just reading between the lines from the comments, it looks like something that should be on the car. Probably not a resale issue if it has it…only an issue if it doesn’t. So for $1800 I’ll get most of it back in resale value. Meanwhile I’ll enjoy the benefits.

Not catastrophic if you don’t but it is certainly a nice compliment to the Z51 pkg. Also mag-ride + Z51 gives you performance traction management (PTM) as a bonus. Some folks set it up the way they like it and never change and some folks (like myself) change the settings frequently, either way it’s nice to have the capability at my fingertips. And yes, when was shopping for my C7 it as on my list of must have options.

There's no right answer. I went with it on the Z51 but feel that I could have easily gone without and been fine. If I had ordered non-Z51 I would have gone with mag ride for sure, as I don't like the body roll and the suspension feels too soft to me without Z51.
If money is no concern, just get it. If budget is a concern, maybe there are other options you can ditch to ease the $$ pain. It's not something you can add easily later.
It depends on so many random factors (budget, how long you plan on keeping the car, how you'll drive the car, where you'll drive the car), that nobody but you can answer the question.

I personally wouldn't have a Z51 without MSRC...But that's just me...
Btw..I never purchase cars with resale in mind...

After doing my research on this, I ordered my '21 Z51 with mag ride.

When I ordered mine I thought long and hard about FE-4 mag ride with Z-51. Since I will never track the car I dropped the mag ride and stuck with the Z-51due the additional features it includes.

FE4 all the way! I switch frequently and there is a very noticeable difference. Set up MyMode they way you want it and enjoy yourself. I run a lot in Z mode, and a quick twist to the left puts me back in mymode when nearing my destination. It rains sheets in Florida and I really like the feel of the Weather mode as an added bonus.

I'm not criticizing your decision though. If you're driving it "normal" on the street, even the base non-Z51 seems like overkill.
It seems like if you don't get it, you won't miss it. If you do get it, you won't regret it. There's no wrong decision. The car is great in every configuration.

My take on the mag ride is that it's more for the non-Z51 to get a better (more firm) sport feeling, or to soften up the Z51 ride. I also feel like it could help during "spirited driving in Mexico" on the street where pavement transitions are more erratic and potholed than you'd find on a track. Lastly the PTM modes could be cool for track driving since it integrates with the Z51 hardware to get the full benefit from it.

Unfortunately these days, it is very difficult to order a non-Z51 w/ MSRC due to supply chain constraints.

I couldn’t get MSRC on my 22 Z 51. Due to constraint. And I didn’t want to risk waiting any longer, perhaps I don’t know what I’m missing but I like the way the car rides on the non mag z51 It is firm but not at all harsh on the roads I drive on to me it rides as smooth as my C6 base only no body roll and more planted feeling . I think if I had MSRC I’d set it to how it rides now , All that said I’m on a list again and if I trade for a 24 I intend to order it if available . If it’s not a budget buster I’d get it but you will love your c8 either way

I have the Z51 with MSRC and if I were to order another C8 I would get both again.

I take it that the nose lift feature is available with magnetic shocks. Correct? Reason I'm asking is that I have the notion that for a while, if not now, there was a constraint ordering both. I have the magnetic shocks on my C6 and I can tell the difference. To really tell the difference...with no one around, start driving with a zig zag motion as you go down the road and get the car rocking back and forth as you dither the steering wheel. Do this with the mag shocks off and then turn them on. You can notice the car stiffen up immediately.
