A chip in my PPF
Well, it finally happened. I must have gotten a bit too close to a truck kicking up stones on the interstate. I now have a 1/4" Chip in the PPF on the front bumper of my 22 HTC. Can anything be done shy of replacement of the PPF on the front bumper?

What good is that stuff anyway. Looks worse that a chip and I bet the paint is damaged underneath it anyway.

Well, the only "good news" in all this is that it does not look as bad in person as it does in the photo. Still, if it can be fixed instead of replaced, that would certainly make my day...

Small dings, yes. But if you get hit by something big or sharp enough to actually take a chunk out of the film it's not going to grow new plastic.
A lot of impacts it will protect the paint. Nothing can withstand every impact, unless you're going to plate your car in armor. You'll have a lot more paint chips without it than with it.

The film is there to take the impact and not damage the paint. Same thing happened to me and I had the film replaced at the initial installer and he charge me $100. Get it replace and be thankful you had the film, as a respray would be WAY more expensive.
The film did it job..

Glad to see you had PPF on the front bumper...Looks like you definitely saved the paint!
I've had a few close calls like this on a few my other sports cars where I had the front end done with PPF...

Better the PPF takes the hit than the paint. Check with your installer and see if they can perhaps get it to sell heal. If not, a new piece of PPF may be required.
