Default C8 sells at Mecum Saturday 10/15/2022

FWIW - 1LT, Z51, red GT1 seats, red calipers, StingRay R cosmetics with 4,000 miles.
Sold for $87,500
Still $10k over MSRP but with auction costs, its much less than that. I'd say prices are coming down.

I don't think being a 1LT is the problem, if there is one. I wouldn't judge market trends just by an auction price, high or low. There's much more to it than that.

It says 2022 along the top of the screenshot.

1LTs C8s have had a higher profit margin over MSRP historically.

I mostly read the post and didn't take a good enough look at the pic. Thanks, now I see it is a 2022.

What is the MSRP of a 2022 1LT coupe with Z51 and R badges?
What are the auction fees after the hammer charges?

For the buyer, with the 10% buyer's fee, he paid over $95,000 for a car that likely stickered in the mid 70's. Prices haven't softened much. Also, that venue in Chicago isn't like Kissimmee or BJ in Scottsdale.

One sale doesn't determine a trend! There are a lot of variables at an auction like the number of bidders interested.

That 2023 car retails for $75,000.

The buyer paid over $96,000 for the a low-mileage 2022 version. ($87,500 x 1.1 fees = $96,250)

That's $20,000 over MSRP for a USED one.

THIS^^^^^

You cannot judge price from a Mecum or a Barrett Jackson auction. This is Stupid Money plain/simple.

I live 10 mins from BJ and go every year. I continue to attend because it’s a show in itself watching how much money flies around that place buying cars that are nowhere worth what these camera needy people pay for them.

Here as well. Most of the C8's at Mecum Chicago did not sell. Reserves were still high.

Local dealer here in Las Vegas prices them at $55K over sticker, and the cars don't stay on the show room floor more than a few days. According to the salesmen, they don't take much off of their mark up either. So, someone is buying them, and quickly. Of course, they're only asking $35K over sticker for their ZR2 half ton pickups, but those don't seem to sell as fast.

How much does the potential seller pay if the C8 doesn't reach reserve amount and he takes it back home?

The buyer's fee is 12%, at least that's what I had to pay for a 57 Chevy I bought at auction.

Is that what the seller pays even if he doesn't make a sale due to reserve being not met? That would be pricy and keep me out of that scenario. Not that i am ever planning on selling my Game Changer.
