No truth in the rumor.
Until order process returns to 6 weeks from dealer entry to delivery, someone will always be willing to pay extra. It's only the amount of extra that will vary for many reasons.

I watched all the Corvettes being sold, and would say the market is down, cause they either did sell, to sold low, even the C2 weren't at the price previous.

I just bought a 2023 HTC 3LT loaded and paid MSRP. Not pre-sold and I didn't order it. It showed up a Malcolm Cunningham Chevy and I bought it. There was also a white HTC on the showroom floor for sale. MSRP as well. Hendrick Chevrolet in Buford said they are selling all 2023 corvettes at MSRP. They don't have any available, but if you get an allocation, it will be at MSRP.

Seller premium is 6% for a No Reserve car and 10% for a Reserve car. Mecum will sometimes reduce the %10 commission on reserve cars when it is a big money car or if it is really close to meeting the reserve so the seller will get what they wanted and Mecum will still get a big chunk of the premium.
Buyer premium is 10% in person and 12% via phone or internet.
For every sale Mecum collects 16% to 22% of the hammer price based on the percentages above. They also collect entry fee and bidder pass fees, in addition to venue based revenue like merchandise and concessions splits.

At Mecum, the seller pays an entry fee based on the day and time slot the car will cross the block and if they want premium advertising or listing status. This could be anywhere from $250 to $2500 or more with additional listing services. That is all the money Mecum gets if the car does not sell.

Just to correct the record.... most of the C8's at this past weekend auctions Mecum put on in Chicago and Tennessee SOLD. There were only a couple that failed to sell.
The market is still stronger than I thought it would be....

C8 prices are still strong in the major C8 markets (Fla, TX, AZ, CA) and will most likely hold or get even stronger in spring when the BG line starts spitting out Z06s in volume along side the Stingrays.
