Default Question about Z51

Hello everyone, I am close to being contacted to place my build and due to constraints it looks like I知 going to have to go with the Z51 package something I wasn稚 trying to get since it was not in my budget and I値l probably never going to track the car and I do want to get a 23MY so my question is, is the Magnetic ride a must for the Z51? How much stiffer is the Z51without Magride compared to a non Z51. And should I just bite the bullet and get the magride? Thanks in advance

Short answer is if you can swing MSRC then go for it. It has more benefits than just a softer ride.
Longer answer is most people that have purchased a Z51 without MSRC had no complaints about the slightly firmer ride. The Z51 ride without MSRC has been compared to a non-Z51 with MSRC set to Sport.

I’m facing same issues. I was going for NON Z51 with MSRC for what seems to be the sweet spot on a limited budget and to get all season tires. With it coming down to the wire on placing my order, I think I’ll bite the bullet and choose the Z51 with the MSRC. I really wish I could test drive all the options, but RCKLR has many very good posts about the difference. No pressure

I had a '21 base 1lt and now have a z51 3lt. neither with magride. Don't buy in to the night and day difference nonsense; Yes the z51 is stiffer but the ride of the base isn't exactly cloud like. I prefer the crispness of the z5. I have had cars with magride, I always had it set to sport or track so its wasted on me. same with npp.. always set to loud... Im actually replacing it with a non valved paragon exhaust

The short answer is NO, not a must, before so many start writing pages justifying why they did or did not get MRC.

I faced the same issue. I wanted a non Z-51 with MSRC. Due to constraints I had to choose Z-51 without MSRC or wait an indeterminate number of months. I cannot speak directly to Z-51 with or without MSRC. I can say driving my car is an absolute blast. Ignorance is bliss. Very happy I did not wait an extra four to six months to get my car. Only my opinion. YMMV.

To the OP, while the Z51 suspension without MSRC (FE3) is not prohibitively harsh on the street (not even close) if you can afford to get the Z51 with MSRC (FE4), then get it and then the worry is of little consequence. I don’t know what kind of road you have to contend with where you live, but you won’t be paying much more for FE4 than you will for FE3. The price difference between the two suspensions is rather negligible given the price of the car itself.

These are the very reasons why I chose MSRC on my Z51..

No option on this car is a must-have. It really depends on what the prospective buyer wants from the available options, so I concur with this post.

You guys are great, l had several corvettes and I still have 2 but non with the z51 so I thought that the Z51 without the magride was going to be really stiff for an everyday drive, I now have a better idea on what to do.
I think this constraint it痴 is going to make me get something that I didn稚 want but that I will be glad I have lol

Was in the same boat. Wasn't really wanting Z51 but ordered it to get an allocation. Mag ride was a yes regardless. Good luck with your decision.

Z51 + Mag Ride = PTM (Performance Traction Management). Look up the PTM modes in the owner's manual. If you have to get Z51, then I would suggest also getting mag ride.

This all makes little sense but they must be projecting out of what's going to be available for a particular build with they what have or will not have because I got a call thursday from my dealer that said we could do my build now but must delete the Z51. It was a difficult decision and maybe not a smart one but I optioned to wait. I had previously ordered and purchased a c6 & a c7 both Zo6 models buit would be happy with the current SR HTC. I know that I will never track this car but when spending nearly $100,000 for a car you should get what you want even when not necessary.

Agree. I have a non Mag Ride, Z-51 optioned car. The ride and handling quality of this car is fantastic.

For the month of Oct (374) non-z51 allocations will be made available...Monthly allocation distributions are Dealership dependent...Sounds like your Dealership only received a few non-Z51 allocations for the month...

MacMulkin on the other hand got (0) non-Z51 and (140) Z51 allocations for the month!

What's frustrating is they have buyers wanting non-Z51s being forced to get Z51s and buyers wanting Z51s being forced to get non-Z51s unless they want to pass on their allocations. You'd think they'd have a better way of aligning them.
