it's their plant and they can set any rules they want to set. As for the rules they do have they make sense from a safety and security standpoint.

Ok, how about this? Is there a metal detector? If not just turn it off and keep it in your pocket. No detectors at the museum when I was there in June. Plant tours were still closed so I can’t say about a metal detector at the plant.

Just shows that people are tired of people needing their permanent babysitter.

Yep. Received the invite from Shane today! Currently booking through October 28. October 31 is a black out date and they have yet to open scheduling for November. Currently working with Shane for date/time. Excited to say the least!

Phones are also navigational devices. In some locations, geofencing can be used to disable the camera functions on a phone. I noticed this in person with my iPhone in the Vatican a few months ago. No one inside the Vatican Museum could get their video button to work on their phone.

Suppose if Corvette plant wanted to restrict pictures on phones, they could also use this technology.

Why is it so difficult to just fallow the rules?

I have a feeling that if GM gets enough people breaking the rules, that plant tours will go away pretty quickly. Don't ruin it for the rest of us.

Are you talking to the "owner" of post " #23? Because even if many/most understood the first poster to be wantinyg to take in a cell phone, he's now made it clear he won't try, and actually understands it. But, also, when you once lose something from a car, unless you're dumb (which the OP is not) you try to either remove them from the temptation, or do something else.

I gotta say tho, while this is no Ferrari factory lot for visitors, there is an awful lot of seeming temptation when it's close to full with Corvettes. And maybe they are well-hidden but I see no (armed) guards anywhere there. Unless it's camo...

It's been some years since I last went on the BGA tour but even back then (pre iphone), the no camera's rule was strictly enforced. I believe they have lockers for your stuff.

The only thing that bugs me about the tours is the ever increasing age requirement. 20 years ago it was 7 years of age, 10 years ago it climbed to 10 years of age, now it's 13 years of age. I want to bring my oldest daughter when I pick up my Z06 and take her through the plant. She will not meet age requirements now. Ridiculous.... I'm bringing a signed doctors note that she has a pituitary disorder! They should be having us sign a waiver for bringing children, have them wear safety gear, and escort anyone (child or adult) off tour if they fail to follow rules.

I understand that it's private property but not letting kids go enjoy something like this is really unfortunate - they are taking away one of the best parts of visiting BG for corvettes. The lawyers and actuaries have sucked more fun out of the experience.

It's not hard to follow the rules. I do not want to take pictures, or talk on my phone, or text. I want to keep it in my pocket, not in my parked car. I'm just asking those with BG Tour experience, is this possible, so I would feel safe.
If they have lockers; that would solve everything.
It's probably 99% safe in the frunk, but it's 100% safe in my zipped pocket.

I'm not high risk, but I have had two comprehensive claims in the last seven years, and a stolen stereo many years ago, so anything can happen.
One claim was when I hit a bear in Yosemite in 2015. What are the odds of that? Way less than having a break in on your car.
If you have never had a comp claim, I'm glad for you.

Based on your experiences with stolen or damaged property, I can understand why you're asking the question. And it's not a bad one at all IMO.

Actually that's what I thought the forum was about..... asking folks questions to gain knowledge. As far as being a babysitter......... no one requires anyone on here to respond. If you're tired you can back out of the thread. Its only one keystroke.

What is worse IMHO are folks who don't bother to read the responses and repeat and repeat the same information to a simple question.

If my phone is in a zipped jacket pocket, are they going to search me before and after the tour?

Having had the chance to tour Tonawanda Engine in 2010 while they were building the 2.4 Ecotec, yes, no phones inside the plants on a tour is an enforced deal and no joke. Leave it in your car or if they have a locker.

"Asking questions to gain knowledge" That's a perfect description. and a good theme. Remember the 60's. If you were lucky, one of your friends knew that guy that had the fast car.
If you could meet him, you might get to ask him some questions about his engine, and how to make your car go fast.
That was our only source of information, somebody you knew in person, or Hot Rod, magazine.

That was back when the family phone was on the kitchen wall, and the redline on my 327 was 5000. Drive-in movies, cruising, head out on the highway for a race. One V8 Chevy did it all. Those were the good old days.

Last time I took the tour was the C6 era and they were pulling young kids out of our group to get in the cars and start them for the first time. I think they even got a certificate after doing it! I remember being jealous because I wanted to do it! 🤦‍♂️😳😁
