Default Paint chipping around headlights

How many C8 owners are having problems with paint chipping around the headlights? And what is GM doing to rectify this problem? I am attaching a photo of mine. I suggest everyone take a close look around your headlights.

it looks worse in the pic because I really zoomed in on it. It’s hard to notice unless you know where you’re looking. But I actually have some on both sides.

This is a well-known common problem....A simple forum search would reveal this thread below which discusses this....A TSB has also been released by GM addressing the problem...

I don't know what would bother me more the paint popping or that seam from the PPF.

its very zoomed in. You really can’t even see the paint or seem unless you get really close. But when you know it’s there you know it’s there.

Where did you buy your C8 from ? This is a very common problem and the dealership should have easily saw the headlight didn't have the proper spacing when they did the final inspection

That wouldn't be acceptable to me!

I have it on the passenger side and plan on bringing my car in to have it repaired under warranty per the TSB this winter.

Mine had no issues 11 months ago when I bought it. I found a small issue a few weeks back, so small I was able to easily touch it up. What my concern is will I have more issues? I thought this was a one and done problem that was found on a brand new car not something that occurs a year out?

As others stated this is a common problem and has been an issue on C7s as well. So what is GM doing to fix it; nothing that is working. As far as fixing the damage the dealer body shop should fix it under warranty.

I had that on one of my headlights. There's a bulletin on it. The dealer just took the headlight out, adjusted it, and did a touchup. That's your bulletin. They gave me the touchup paint.

PS: I wouldn't be too happy with that PPF. After a while you'll be replacing it.

I intend to have the gap inspection that is outlined in the TSB done during my PDI...

"The headlamp lens should have a minimum 0.5mm (0.02") gap between the lens and the body panel"

off topic, but seriously, what's the point of PPF. I've seen them get yellowed, and when they get old or need replacement, who knows if the paint will get damaged when taking off. I'd never put PPF or wraps on my car. Just be careful with the factory paint.

After the problems on the C7 you would think they would produce a car that did not have this problem. But it hasn’t happened yet.
