Default Edge Red Calipers no longer available

Received a call from my dealership yesterday letting me know GM reached out and said Edge Red Calipers are no longer available and may not ever be. Interestingly the Build and Price tool no longer has these as an option either.
On another odd note - I originally placed deposit with a Denton Texas dealer at MSRP who informed me 9 months later they had a separate list at 10K over that went to the front. I pulled deposit and had a bad taste in my mouth so I was pretty down on even pursuing again. On a whim I called another dealer in August, put deposit down and in the communication about the calipers it is possible my order will be accepted this month...not guaranteed. I was expecting 12 month wait and may still land there but this woke up my excitement...just the possibility

Edge Red engine covers and calipers are on constraint due to a fire at the plant that manufactures the paint. I was told by a VERY knowledgeable C8 salesman with initials MF that he didn't believe the constraint would last that long.

That's a bummer. If me, I would go with the standard black and get powder coated with the color that I would really want.
Depends on what color Vette you are getting, too.

Honestly if they went away it would make my decision so much easier if I bought a Red Mist C8.

Both the Edge Red calipers and Edge Red Engine Cover (not on an Anniversary Edition) are listed with a constraint duration of "To Be Determined".

The Corvette Assembly Plant was hit by a tornado and had a fire with major damage, and they had it up and running at full capacity in two weeks. I am surprised that a fire at a paint factory would place a long term constraint on the Edge Red calipers. It would be nice if the Edge Red paint could be sourced from a different paint factory.

That's rather subjective. My ELB C8 has edge red calipers and engine cover. I think it's a good look and would be upset if it could not be configured that way.

All 70th Anniversary cars will switch over to bright red calipers when the edge red ones go out of stock

After a couple days of driving , the brake dust settles on the torch red and they look edge red anyways.

Simple... either paint 'em nearly any color you wish, or have it done.

This is a real bummer for me. The bright red calipers are honestly too bright when paired with the HSG paint and black wheels that I’m getting. Yeah, I know they match the red interior but they’re just so damn bright.

Hopefully that is the case - can’t imagine it would take a long time to get up and running again, but I really do not know the extent of the fire damage.

They are brighter than I would like, but I figure they will get dirty before too long.

I agree, I've had both on Hypersonic Gray and greatly prefer the bright red.

Saw a truckload of C8’s and stopped to take a few pics. 4 of the cars had edge red calipers. 2 were 70th anniversary editions.

Some people were injured in the explosion. I don't think you can just rebuild it the same way without an investigation to see why it happened.
Throw some lawyers into the mix and you're looking at a long wait or even a shut down.
