Default Skipped even gears

Hello, everyone. Just a bad day for me. I just took my 2023 70th anniversiary package c8 back with only 7 miles on it today. Guess what, the check engine light is on and it says idle creep unavailble. The transmission messed up. It start skipping even gears, goes like 1/3/5/7. When the AFM works(V4-V8), The car shaking very bad. Just scheduled a service appointment tomorrow. Feels so disappointed rn.

Seems they are still having issues with certain assembly folks not paying attention to detail. With only 7 miles on the OP's C8, mis-assembly has to be the issue.

It could also just be debris and need a flush. That has fixed the issue for many folks. Not saying it's acceptable, but it's also not always catastrophic.

Sorry that had to happen…I truly believe now that for all of us it’s not a matter of if
but a matter of when in regards to the DCT. I don’t think it’s a deal where “ I got a good one”. It just seems like clutch part of it should have its own oil bath. Isn’t the Porsche PDK designed that way?

Wow that sucks GM really needs to get their act together on the C8 QC issues.

OP - problems with your car with only 7 miles on it really sucks. Best of luck with having your dealer fix whatever the problem might be.

Keep in mind we are on a forum where MANY come to report issues. Overall, C8 QC has been pretty damn good considering it's a new mid-engine sportscar.
Of course, that's of little comfort for those who have had issues.
Let's hope this is just a minor issue.

Zec,
Had the same thing happen to me after 1,500 miles. Had to get a transmission replacement. I pressed my dealer pretty hard and it took about 3 weeks time. One thing I did was call the GM Warranty, Repair and lemon law hotline at 1-866-636-2273. They will reach out to your dealer and try to help get your car back on the road. I can say they really didn't help much. They were usually about a day or two behind the information my dealer was giving me, but what it did do was give me some extra bonus rewards points that I can use to purchase some goodies. You will probably have to ask for a Care Package. I believe that is what they call it.

I completely understand how you feel having been through it, but keep in mind you will get your car back.

Good luck.

I agree "**** happens" and as you say a number of folks have had similar and other issues solved with a simple flush! A tech who had repaired some DCTs said there are many sensors that protect the DCT. He showed 100 possible CELs. Each gear has synchro cones, shift forks that engage just like any standard shift. But they are activated by hydraulics. There are sensors to be sure the shift folks are in the proper location BEFORE in energizes the clutch for say, in this case, the even gears. It will trip a CEL and block the 2nd, 4th, 6th 8th gear clutch from activating.

Frankly one of the reasons I had my DCT filter changed year one with the engine oil having only 3500 miles, all on GM's dime. A flush is required before the filter change.

Below is a pic of mine being done last year. Takes about 10 minutes all done by the GM service computer. tech and I watched his PC computer screen and my C8 running and could hear "things" occurring!

Yep, DCT is two 4 speed standard transmissions with shift folks, synchro's operating for each gear

Everyone keeps talking about quality control…I just don’t buy the debris from careless worker assembly. Same thing with the headlight paint problem. These could be design issues and not sloppy factory procedures. Easy to blame it on the workers to hide the issues and keep shoving the cars out the door. However I hear that little whine in the trans at about 58mph and it sure sounds like an old fashion differential that was not set up quite right.
