Well, lets see what value your spend created. You did not have to go shopping for the materials required, did not have to jack up the car (not as simple as some would think) to gain access under it, crawl around under the the car with a catch pan for the mess that your fixing to create, look around your garage for something that resembles a filter wrench, and then drop that filter in to the same pan of slop that you would most likely have dropped the drain plug into. You avoided the need to remove the giant oil stain from your driveway, but that's getting ahead of the process. You did not have to crawl out from under the car and clean up the oil dripping down your forearm and wipe off the oil / sweat from your forehead. You don't have to wonder if your new Z06 polo shirt that Tadge signed for you at Carlisle last week is permanently stained by the Mobile supercar oil. You did not have to remind yourself that you should have bought a new funnel when driving all over town looking for the supercar oil because the one you found in the house was last used by Momma when canning preserves. You eliminated the opportunity slop oil all over the engine bay (if your lucky what misses the hole will eventually drip down onto the same location that your gonna have to clean up anyways). Nothing left to do now but check the oil level, simple to do but different than any car you have ever owned before. You also avoided the need to contact a Haz Mat team to dispose of the spent oil and filter as well as lying to your significant other about what happened to her favorite dish towels that are now missing.

Looks about right. GM retail per quart of the Mobil 1 ESP Formula 0W40 is $17.20/quart. P/N 19370233. That would leave $10.53 for the filter. Oil prices went up with GM like 4 times in the last 3 months. Just last year that oil retailed for $11.84/quart at the dealer.

Can you provide them with the oil and filter yourself? There was an Autozone deal earlier i picked up, was $5 a quart, 50% off the usual price of $10. $17 a quart is highway robbery. Its still at $10 a quart here: https://www.autozone.com/motor-oil-a...kId=4090959423

The real rip off was $700 for the oil change and the recommended 7500 service, which is 2 air filter changes and a bunch of "checks". They didn't even check the tire pressure. Got it home and got a notification that several tires were below recommended air pressure.
So far my experience with Chevy dealers is near zero on a scale of 1 to 10. Its the weak part of the system.

August 17, Hartsville SC:
Oil: $68.78 and I was watching (and talking with tech) from the open service bay door it was ESP 0W-40
AC Filter: $5.30
Labor: $27.80
With Tax and disposal fees $106
And Corvette tech spent ~ hour total, download a required software update and at my request because of a NAV SC Card Removed Error the latest infotainment software.
Great guy, gets aTIP!

Haven't even thought about cleaning my oiled cotton aFe low restriction air filter at my 7000 miles. BTW getting to the engine air filter is a PIA. Have to take the trunk out!

The GM C8 Maintenance table says engine air cleaner change at 45,000 miles! Passenger compartment filter (which is easy) 22,500 miles.

Been paying about the same for my C7 oil change in Canada when allowing for the exchange rate. It would be a fair bit less if we didn't have to use the GM mandated oil...it costs a lot more than other Mobil 1 types.

My dealer estimated $160 to $300 for trans fluid change with me providing the fluid. This is at the time of trans filter replacement so he belly pan would already be off. I told them no thank you..

Hey as I said I will be doing my oil change when I get it but that’s because I don’t want to spend 100+ dollars for 20 min of labor plus I like doing my regular maintenance that way I know what goes in it but I get some people don’t like to do their own simple maintenance and it’s cool they just have to pay those outrageous labor prices
