The labor costs printed run fr. $20-$25 and I keep wondering what the labor charge/hr. is. Because if it's anywhere close to $125/hr. at your dealer (which in many areas it hasn't been that low for a long time), that's about 12 minutes of labor. So, $25 labor charge seems to be saying it takes 12 minutes---or less---to take off the old filter and put on the new one, drain the old oil and put in the new oil. Is that right?

Two weeks ago I paid about $135 for the same services here in the St. Paul, MN area.

FWIW, see folks looking to get both the small "O" ring and the "washer" at the base of the drain plug.

Unlike the old replaceable copper gasket that used to be used on drain plugs, the flexible material used (like these on my C7 dry sump plugs) is more of a reusable gasket. Had similar used on the Magnetic plugs I used on my 2014 Z51 and 2017 Grand Sport.

I agree with your numbers so I don't know how they figured the labor. It took far more then 15 min. to "rack" the car & preform the service & checks. By the looks of another post $135 isn't bad so I'm happy.

^^ If those labor costs hold, I am quite astonished. I realize dealers make it up in cost of parts (oil, filter, gasket, etc.), but to charge $25 for labor? I don't get it. Oh well, it is what it is.

Many dealerships charge a low fixed labor cost to compete with Jiffy Lube type of places.

The last time I spoke with their "specialist" was in December 2021 when I picked up my car. They were not aware of the complimentary service being extended out to 2 years.

Nothing simple about owning a C8 vette and prices for an oil change. Same could be said about my wife’s Jag FType that was $350 or my 6.7 Cummins at $375. Both full synthetic. Pay to play or buy a Sonic.
