Mandatory OnStar is the Culprit of the added $300 price of a C8 starting 9/1

When is GM going to Realize OnStar=Blockbuster
NO ONE wants directions without live Traffic adjustments, every car has Bluetooth. We'll stick with Google Maps, Waze etc....
It doesn't save you but 3 cents on insurance...
We Don;t want your "After Sales Sale"
We Don't want WiFi in our Car when I have Multiple WiFi HotSpots available on our phones.
Plus your Cars WiFi is hogging a Band of WiFi ruining our Home WiFi as you only have 1,6,11 in 2.4ghz so If I have multiple Access Points, all your doing is pissing my Home Network off. STOP IT already
OK Rant over...

What about those who are at 3300 status? Are we price locked like prior price increases or do they consider this different since they're "adding a feature".

But I suppose they could tell you you need to change or cancel your order...

It would be really nice if we could order a Corvette exactly how we want it. I hate how you have to order packages 📦 that include things you don’t really want
or at a minimum do not want to pay for now they’re going to add on some bullshit onstar subscription

Short Lived
This is the new future of manufacturers. Businesses scratching each others back. Always an agenda in some form. BMW is about to offer subscriptions for heated seats. They include it with the car at a cost but have to pay to use. Off the wall logic.

True, BMW also tried in 2019 to charge customers $80/year for the "privilege" of connecting your iPhone to the car, they eventually backtracked, Toyota also tried to charge people for using the heating seats.

We used to be able to negotiate what we paid for a car. Then the "doc" fee came along and I haven't heard of dealers negotiating that away I guess dealers have to pay that $1500 to GM when they buy the cars and trucks so unless they lose money and negotiate that away it'll just become a cost of doing business with GM dealers

BMW charges a subscription fee for heated seats in some countries, but not [yet] in the U.S. Toyota tried to require a subscription to use Remote Start from the key fob, but I think they backed away from that.

Zymurgy I believe they are the only dealer that does that some are charging $800.

Anyone notice the new iPhone and watch will both have collision notice and automatically call 911? Now the only thing Onstar can do that your iPhone can’t is unlock the vehicle or turn it off and on. Just don’t misplace your keys. 🤣

Sorry, just realized that I replied to this old thread because it showed up as a related thread to one I was reading.

I think $300 a year from OnStar is too much. I don't have that much use for it. I'd go for maybe $100 a year.

FWIW I abstain from alcohol, used to drink but never got a DUI. .

Burning Brakes
Automakers yearn for the past. Before our phone outperformed nearly everything (navigation, entertainment, etc.).
The manufacturer who embraces enhanced CarPlay will not only sell a ton of cars, they can eliminate their horrible user interface developers and save money.
