Default Pay to play

Hey Everybody,

I'm on a couple of lists to get a Corvette, Jim Ellis and Stingray.

I have had deposits down over a year and they're taking forever.

I currently have a C7Z.

One of the things I would like to share with my son is my love of corvettes, the museum, the factory and then Ron Fellows.

My son is just 16 and I will give him the new C8.

The dilemma is, I just got a bad health diagnosis and I don't know how long I have??

I would like to do this for my son so he'll have something to remember about me forever.

He's 16 years old and you know when they become 10 YOA, parents become very stupid.

I would like to buy a dealer allocation. I understand some of them will sell one for $5000.

I'm good with that.

Please call me at 561-827-7600

Or private message me.

Thank you in advance to Everyone,

Kevin Marshall

Really sorry to hear about your health issue. Best of luck with that. But my other thought is this:

A 16 year old in a 500 HP Corvette? I know how stupid I was at 16, how great I thought my driving skills were, and how invulnerable I thought I was. I would have killed myself in this car.

Kevin, contact Rick Hendrick Chevy in Duluth, they have a markup on orders about ~5k or ~7k I cant remember but their wait time used to be very short. Easier for you to work with a local dealership too. Sorry about your diagnosis I hope you can get the vette.

I agree,

But he's a pretty smart kid he races dirt bikes and he catches on quickly.

I will send him to Ron Fellows.

I was debating getting him the car and not letting him have it until he's 18.

I will also leave him my Z06 and it's much faster.

Thanks for the reply

Kevin

You know why they call today the present?

Because it's exactly that, a present.

Good afternoon,

Interestingly enough I was the first guy to become subject to the ADM on the Stingray that caused Chris Lindamood to resign.

I then went that day and gave a deposit to Leland, Reggie's Stegmiers counterpart at Jim Ellis.

That was a year ago I haven't even gotten a phone call yet.

I will follow up on your advice and reach out to Rick Hendricks in Duluth.

I live in Milton and used to have a business in Duluth.

I have a daughter going to Tec and kids going to Milton high school.

Thanks to everyone in advance,

Today's wisdom,

You know why they call today the present right?

Because it's exactly that boys,
"a present".

Why not just leave him the C7 and some $$ in trust for the lad ? ,, and make sure he visits Ron Fellows !

That would be one approach but it's about the father's son experience.

He's a smart kid he's doing well in school, his college is paid for, but he'll get a presidential ride like his sister.

I guess it's about me wanting to feel good about doing something with him.

Thank you for your suggestion,

Kevin

Bomnin Chevy has a fast list if you throw 5-10k at them. It’s not instant though, probably a couple months from deposit to allocation. To mirror the other posters, I would really just set up an annuity/fund for him. Money to buy a house when he comes of age and house the object of his dreams. It may not be a corvette. It may not be a car at all.

The C7Z is a great car, no need to stress yourself trying to get into a C8 IMHO

If I was in this situation I would drive the C7Z with him as passenger and let him drive it every time possible. He will remember this forever.

Will be praying for you, Kevin.

Spend time with the kids as much as possible and have faith. Their love for you (and Corvettes in general) will grow and be passed along

More importantly, their memories of YOU and the time you spent with them will last their lifetimes and beyond

God Bless you and your family.

~KK

Obviously it is your choice on how you proceed in leaving a lasting father/son experience, but I tend to agree with skipping the C8, leave him the C7Z, and set him up with an investment portfolio that will help him when he gets out on his own. Good luck in whatever direction you take and prayers for you with your medical diagnosis.

Prayers for you and your Family. You should NOT have to pay for an allocation. Sending you a message.

Personally, I'd buy an older Corvette (C5 - C6) and start modding it with him as much as you can. That's going to much more memorable. I don't see much "experience" being shared simply buying a kid a brand new $70-$100k sports car

Best of luck all around.

Call around a little. Call some local dealers who may not have many allocations, but all you need is one. Tell them straight up your situation and ask them if they have any allocations. A good dealer won't make you pay ADM in your situation. I read stories all of the time of someone coming across an allocation at a smaller dealer and are able to place an order the next allocation.

Be leary of big promises and if you do pay above MSRP, make it contingent upon your build going event status code 2000, which means GM has accepted your order and paired it with an actual allocation. From there, it's about 6 to 8 weeks for your car to be built, and the NCM will usually get your vehicle a day to two after it's actually built.
