Default How long does it take vehicles to get shipped from the assembly plant?

My C8 was produced last week on the 27th. The folks at MacMulklin were kind enough to set me up with OnStar. The vehicle's been sitting in the assembly parking lot. Does anyone know if this week's plant closure also affects shipments? How long does it usually take to get loaded up onto the truck?

It can vary depending on several things. First, the car has to go to QC after it has been produced. Some go right through, others are delayed for a day or two and I have seen a few posts here where their car was held up in QC for weeks. I think the cars are sent out on the transport trucks in batches, based on where they are going. If your area doesn't get many cars, then it might have to wait until they have a full load going to your part of the country.

my car has been sitting there complete since 6/20. No QC hold, just sitting. I am in VA so not that far away. Frustrating.

I agree 100%!!! Mine was assembled on 6/21 and released for shipping the next day, nothing.... Just sitting there...

I know it's not their problem but I've been waiting a long time for this car.
Very Frustrating.

My car was built 7/1 and now that it’s actually built I am less anxious over it. Would be nice if they shipped it out this week though for sure. Good luck 🍀 it’s almost over

Same here...built 7/1 and released for shipment. Too bad the Chevrolet tracking system that was touted about a year ago vaporized.

Lots of things can impact this such as plant closure, however 2-3 weeks from build date to dealer seems to be typical. From a look at the below photo, there's a wonder they get them out as fast as they do.

jack cooper used to allow people to search their tracking system but they disabled it because too many owners abused it.

The dealer told me the shutdown does not affect shipping. the trucks are going in and out of there. but he said normally it is about 2 weeks, but it could be up to 3 weeks before mr car arrives. this is in the Tampa area. Mine was built 6-27. I see my car on the Chevy website and it says in transit. but that does not mean it is on a truck. from what I understand when it is in transit, the trucking company has 10 days to move it out of the lot plus delivery time.

Mine was on a QC hold for 5 weeks. Hopefully yours will ship soon. As soon as you get it you will quickly forget about the wait.

Thought it was 2 weeks but that 10 days is a key. Mine got shipped within several days of manufacture. Was in BG the weekend and started on a Monday from BG and got Western SC that day. I tracked via OnStar. Could see when it stopped at Chevy dealers in GA. Stayed overnight in mall parking lot and got to NE SC where I am at ~4 PM Tuesday. Dealer said Jack Cooper car carrier had two cars left and was heading South.

Jack Cooper has had the shipping contract for years. They have special trucks for Vettes. They no doubt bid a fixed price and GM gives them time to plan the most efficient route for them to keep costs low and allows, as you note, 10 days to do that.

Jack Cooper has the contract to haul Vettes. Has special 10 Vette Carrier. Probably get a fixed price/delivery and can consolidate shipment and use Trunk and Train to keep their costs as low as possible. West Coast and other Western States typically was (is) Trunk to Train, Train, Truck to dealer.

Been that way for a while!

My car was built on 3/7 and in QC hold for 7-9 days. Then I drove it home on 3/23. I was at the dealer when the truck rolled up. The driver lived not to far from me and brought C8's west bound. Then picked up Tahoes and Suburbans going east bound. Built in Arlington, TX. Fun experience if you can do it. Kept the shipping cover even though it is not useable.

No new builds for the week. A week of shipping on schedule. Would think that the storage lot would be fairly empty by weeks end.

My car was built 6/30 and just shipped yesterday 7/5. It just depends on the destination and acouple other factors. All in all my process has been far faster than most people i've heard ordering. Ordered may 17th and just under 2 months it'll be in my driveway.
