Oil Change Using Ramps
If I were to use ramps to back up on for oil change access (filter and drain) what ramp height would be best? It looks like an 6" may be okay, but wanted to check to see if anyone has used them (6") or is a higher pair better? Thanks Tom

I can slide under mine with the wheels up on rhino ramps. The specs say those are 8.5", but that's to the top of the lip. I think the surface the tire rests on is about 6 or 6 1/2 inches.

I use these 6" ramps that are similar to race ramps for low cars without the price...

I just changed my oil yesterday. My ramps are 6” high. After sliding underneath the vehicle, I wasn’t able to maneuver comfortably, so I placed 2” thick wood sheets under the front tires and that gave me enough room to maneuver comfortably.

I'm planning to use the same method since I also have the Rhino Ramps. Great idea on using 2x4 planks for additional height to the front wheels.

Raising the front wheels will effectively get the center of the car (where the oil drain & filter are located) higher off the ground, but slightly lowering the rear bumper (where the additional space isn't needed). Ramps alone, getting to the oil filter only is a snug fit for me so a little extra room won't hurt come full oil change time.

I have been using speed ramps that are 8 inches high. My driveway drops significantly from my garage and when I put the ramps down on the driveway and either the front or back of my car on the ramps my car is pretty much level. It gives me plenty of room to move around to change my oil.

On the C8, for draining the oil, is it best best to have it slightly sloped towards the rear? or slightly forward? My driveway is sloped so I can move the Rhino ramps to have it sloped for drainage. Thanks.

The drain plug is at the front of the engine, so if you can't get the car level it would be better to have the rear higher than the front.

Depends in part on how large you are. I'm small and thin. I can put my cars on my gently sloping driveway and pull the tires not even to the top of the lower section of my Race Ramps; and that gives me plenty of room. Experiment. Btw, I'm a BIG fan of Race Ramps. Also, be safe; block both wheels on the ground.

I bought a set of ramps from Megan Racing (photo below) off of eBay. The tire support area is curved and matches the tire pretty well. They're just over 6" at the lowest point of the tire contact area and easily allow my C8 onto them. I also like that you can pull the ramp portion out to allow less restriction once the car is on them. Even so, it's a pretty tight fit under there for me. I'm fairly slim but tall at 6'4". Even so, it was pretty easy to get in there and change the oil and filter. I would highly recommend these ramps, they are of excellent construction and very useful compared to my older, more traditional ramps.

For an oil/filter change, is getting the car level as good or better than raising the rear?
I have a lift and I have ramps - which to use?
Thank you

An inexpensive option with just Wheel Stanchions.
Made my own stanchions in 2014 for my C7, used on my 2017 Grand Sport as shown. If making for a C8 would use 2" X 8." A 12-foot long board is enough. Had Lowes cut in two pieces to fit in SUV.
Had tried ramps on my C6. One would move so gave them to friend who had to lift on grass! This is a safe easy way that does require a jack and jack pad!

I jacked mine up with the intent of using the jack stands like I did on the C6 GS not realizing there was no place to put them with the jack on the pad. I grabbed some blocks of wood in the garage and put it under the wheels. 6 inches probably and it was just fine.
