Is OnStar worth continuing?
On my new C8 I get one month of OnStar free and another two free months if I give them a credit card to continue service. My question is how many of you actually use OnStar? I rely on my iPhone for most things including directions so why have OnStar. My 2014 had a free trial which came and went without ever being used. Should I pay for it to continue?

Bonus points with the iPhone you have, stick a $25 air tag on the car and you have better tracking than on star for security purposes. So that aside, all you have left is lockout services which I believe they do at a nominal fee even without a subscription. I thought I would continue onstar but I didn’t even take the “free” extra 2 months.

Use it if you want, and see if you like it. There is a pretty hard bias against it on this board, so you'll get mostly "No" answers. I would carry it during the driving season and dropped it over winter. It's not hard to cancel, at least for me it hasn't been. I liked some of the convenience.

OnStar is a service that provides no value to me -- regardless of price. Seeing the pricing of the different packages was eye-opening in that I don't feel what the service provides is worth the price at all. For what GM charges for OnStar, I felt the price is straight-up price gouging, IMHO.

Dealer insisted that OnStar be activated as part of their delivery process, otherwise I would have just skipped it completely. They kept calling me, wanting me to continue it, until I finally told them not to call anymore. For some people it might be of value, but I didn't see that it would be for me.

Nope. Funny, you'll still get a monthly car status, that continues free. ALSO in an emergency you can still call by pushing the button. They will answer and send a tow truck or ambulance IF you give them a CC and join at the time!

I have never even activated OnStar on any new car that I have bought. I have just not found it to be worth the expense.

Depends if you like it or not... I kept the connected car package which includes full app functionality and unlimited WiFi.

I activated the free trail on our '22 coupe but last week called them and canceled it after the trial ends next week for me. We do have it on our Express Van that my wife uses to take dogs to dog shows and it came in handy when she blew out a tire in the middle of nowhere land. So for her it will remain active. The Vette is a toy and not driven as much as I would like so we are not going to keep it activated on that.

It all depends on one's use cases and risk tolerance. Some will consider it cheap insurance in case they get in a serious accident or lock themselves out of their car. Other will find it useless. if you're never far from home it probably offers less value than if you take long trips frequently.
As far as for navigation, though, I'd say it's not worth it. There are too many free alternatives, including the built-in Nav (2LT and 3LT).

Whether or not it is "worth it" is something you have to decide by reviewing the services to see if you want any of them. I did not continue the subscription after the trial. And I did not use any of the services during the trial. If you do not want the service, you do not need to give them a credit card. Among the things you do not lose (that some have asked about on the forum: are:
1. You do not loose any of the remote functions that your key fob provides,
2. If you have the onboard Nav option, standard on 1LT and 2LT, and optional on 1LT, you will not lose that. The on board Nav uses on board maps (on you SD card). And GPS does not require On-Star. I use mine regularly, and do not have On-Star.
