Uh Oh Are C8 Prices Going To Fall Off A Cliff?

Safety Car
First three years of the C7, 112,217 cars were produced. First three years of the C8, 71,749 produced. The C8 is 40,468 units behind the C7. WE have high demand and a shortage of supply. Don't think you are going to see discounts on C8's anytime soon.

I got great $ for my vert C7 and gonna drive the **** out of the new C8. Less than a month and knocking on 1000 miles already. What a fantastic car. It's as fast as the N/A vettes i've modded and drives to civilized if your not getting after it. I don't get all the worries about prices. Usually most corvettes i've owned drop about 40% by the time the next gen comes out. All long term vette owners that daily drive thier cars have been dealing with this as long as they have driven vettes. The price game is for flippers and non-car enthusiasts. Gotta pay to play!

You're delusional if you think you are buying a Corvette at 20% off any time soon! Maybe the last year of the model run when the C8 is old news and the C9 is around the corner! And wrong, most Corvette owners are financial stable and they're not praying for steep depreciation or discounts so they can afford one! Btw, you don't have to sh*t on the car to get your wishes! It's always the ones that are actually dreaming about owning a Corvette one day that find a way to insult it! Lol 🤦♂️

Many prospective C8 buyers are hoping prices drop. It's human nature.
There were about 30,000 C8s between '20 -'23 that never got made due to supply chain issues.
That's a HUGE number of cars that will never hit the market, maintaining the low supply. That's a big advantage for C8 sellers over the next few years.

We’ll have to see the wait times drop of significantly before prices come down. I don’t expect the supply chain/logistics crisis to get fixed until after January 20th of 2025. And don’t expect the Z06 to have a negative effect on C8 pricing because for every Z06 that’s produced, is one less Stingray that is produced. And while some may sell their Stingrays, not everyone wants a used Corvette.
I expect prices to remain strong and for C8s to hold their value better than some of the naysayers remark here.

My first new Corvette was a 1996 at ~22% off. The C8’s will continue to garner over MSRP, so long as there is a wait. While I fully expect the economy to go in recession, I would expect with the current C8 build backlog and 2021, 2022 and 2023 base price increases well below inflation, that the C8 will continue to have a wait, albeit somewhat shorter.

Seems the used market is slowly adjusting. Car gurus have price history and many C8's listed for over $100k have been there a while. Some car selleres are dropping $5-10-15k off the price to sell in some cases, and still not selling. My guess is that dealers are seeing this too and realize they do not want to be the last dealer holding the car. Sellers are still stubborn and will not cut a deal , lets see prices in Oct when summer is over. To be fair others are actually going up in price. The New market is still pretty strong, markups > $10k across the board.

All you have to do is check cars.com (do a nationwide search), so many of the used cars have price drops. That is very clear, prices are decreasing just as the summer driving season is starting. To me that indicates prices are trending lower.

I started watching the market for used C8's back in November, when I lucked out by getting a very low # from Ciocca. I wanted to keep my C8 for as long as I could, but also wanted to move up to a Z with very little pain.
Starting about late January I saw a trend that the market was changing. All 4 of the major sources gave me less Quotes for my car than in November.
In March it was evident that the market peaked, as there was a significant reduction in quotes for my car. In order to maximize my sell, I listed the car myself and was able to get what I wanted for the car initially in November.
What I see now is a ton of owners still listing their cars way over what they will get for it. My guess is many of them are like me getting new Z's. Once production starts on the Z's, reality will set in and they will have to reduce pricing in a big way.
There are of course some exceptions in the states of California, Texas, Florida and others. My car sold to a wholesaler in Texas for example.
So much has happened since March. Economy, gas prices, a war and shortages putting pressure on potential buyers and for that matter sellers.

Sorry you can't afford a new C8. Keep saving your nickels. Eventually the used market may get there. Never can tell with inflation though.

Every dealer here is playing the game. Audi, Toyota, Ford, and Nissan all have a C8 on their lot they are trying to flip for 30-40K over. I think those days are numbered / gone at this point. Every day I see 25-30 C8s listed local and most are not selling. The overall amount for sale locally has greatly increased since the beginning of the year. Do I think the value is going to tank, no. However I think the days of 20K+ plus over sticker are done for. Like it or not economy is headed for the toilet.

FYI, I've heard many similar things over and over since i did my first SS. No more SDs, no more Covid, Production at BGA will be ine excess of 40K per year starting tomorrow, Yada, Yada, .... As the CC tells customers, We'll let you know Once it actually happens. The more things Change, they more they stay the Same.
For those that are still waiting for the ......, never purchase the first year of a new model, I purchased a first MY (2020) C8 and have had the pleasure of driving it for 3 years now! Keep waiting for your Game Changer. By the time the Prices fall, there will no longer be an ICE anywhere (frunk, trunk, mid,) BTW, at that time the prices (New and OLD) will probably go through the roof!!!!
