C8 on the Autobahn Video
I apologize if this has been posted before; I performed a search beforehand and didn't see a reference to it, but hey, I've been wrong before. The below video is a video of a German driving a C8 on the autobahn. And while I got a kick out of the Englishish auto translation of Youtube closed-captioning, it would have been really cool to see a manual translation. From what I can tell from the every-other-word that Youtube automatically translates (turn on closed-captioning; choose English), he is extremely complimentary of the car. He talks about build-quality of the interior, the handling (he actually compliments the tendency towards understeering rather than being "like a jacknife" like some other mid-engined cars), the exclusivity of the car in Germany, the sound system, the wonderful sound of a naturally aspirated V8 engine. Thankfully he doesn't notice or remark on the huge panel gap on around the rear deck lid on that particular model lol.
Enough preamble; here's the video.

Yes the translation is something to behold: in the first few minutes as he starts up the car, the translation talks about "the bed mode" instead of the Z mode (Z is pronounced Zed). But nothing funny about driving 282 KPH on the highway.
For those who don't recall, our speedometers used to have a lineup with our speed limit and 88 KPH as the metric speed limit. And that was 55 MPH. Do the math as to what he was driving in MPH.
He must be one helluva experienced driver on the autobahn. I don't think I'd trust myself to do that speed, nor trust the other drivers not to do something stupid and make me an airborne passenger.

If only ignorant Americans in their grocery getters would learn that attitude. No one in front of you but someone coming up behind?? Get tf outta the way! Lol.

Germans, in particular, have huge lane discipline.... working from right to left... if you're going "slow" you belong in the far right lane. Mostly, though, trucks and buses are there so one drives (usually) in the second lane (right)... faster people are traveling in lane three, and the far left lane is for passing at high speeds, or traffic has worked over to the left... once one passes one moves back right so that if someone is traveling faster they may pass... I love driving on the autobahn (Italy's autostradas used to be that way too. No longer... changed in the early '80s.)

I lived in Germany for 3 yrs (military assignment), and also drove the autobahn, only accident I ever saw had an American involved and the other a tractor trailer. I miss driving to the base with no speed limit. German drivers are way more respectful and courteous than American drivers.

Getting the car up to that speed had to be a rush.
