Default Drilling holes in the frunk and trunk deck lids?

Can you drill holes in the raised portion of the deck lids? How much clearance is there?
What is the board used to make trunk lid inserts?

Easy way to measure clearance is to put a wad of silly putty there, then measure the putty height after the gap is re-opened.
Modeling clay works too.

Are you talking about making holes in the black part of the lids, from the underneath? By "raised part" do you mean the stiffening ribs, as opposed to the larger flat sections?

I suppose you could, but (1) if you drill a little bit to far and hit the outer layer of the lid it could get real expensive, and (2) I don't think I'd want to hang or mount anything very heavy on that plastic. (i don't know exactly what it is, but it feels like plastic to me, and pretty thin plastic at that.) What are you trying to do?
