Default Paint correction on new car. Yes or No ?

Think of doing the whole car paint correction before PPF on the front end, fenders, frunk, a pillers and lower rocker areas.

Would you then put a ceramic coating over the entire car after all that ?

Car going to PPF dealer 2.5 hrs away. No local place that do PPF in the mid west here, so thinking of getting it all done at once.

I saw a 2012 Torch Red C 6 that had paint correction done to it and boy it sure popped and looked nice.

I would do a very light correction - minimum needed to clean the paint for the ceramic. The pursuit of perfection on paint is a waste of time and money. The car is exposed to the elements, and it is going to get marks no matter what you do.

Yes pay for the paint correction to correct defects picked up in transit or at/after the dealer.
Yes do car self-healing PPF with a top-shelf film, whole car if you can swing it. The flat rump will pick up a lot of dust.
No do NOT do the ceramic coating on top of PPF, but have them do the wheels, grille, engine bay components, etc. that cannot be otherwise filmed.
*DO* have them add a durable hydrophobic coating (Gtechniq EXO or similar that has a 2+ year warranty).

If you're doing paint correction on part of the car, best to do the whole car. Then PFF and ceramic coating.

Paint correction, then PPF, and lastly a ceramic coating. The degree of paint protection will vary from one car to the next. For PPF, at minimum cover the areas most susceptible to rock strikes (i.e., full front and headlights, mirrors and rockers). And get it done at one place at the same time to ensure it's as clean and pristine as possible before sealing it in with PPF and a ceramic coating. Ceramic coat the whole car, as the prep work will have already been done.

Yes and yes...once mine is delivered I'm driving it home and the next time I start it, it's getting driven to the detailer for paint correction, PPF, and then the ceramic coat. I'm letting the dealer know to not bother much with paint prep, just get everything else with the car where it needs to be because the detailer I've used before will be doing the heavy lifting on that. Here's some of their work on the GT350 I had...

It's going to be a personal choice and how much more $$$ you're willing to part with. I did full paint correction, xpel on the whole front and mirrors, opticoat pro ceramic on the entire car including glass (different product for glass). ran a bit over $4K which also included tint.

Right after it left the detailer.

I'm picking up my car tomorrow morning from the detailer with full xpel PPF, ceramic pro, and XPel tint... Even had the engine bay, door sills, wheels, calipers, glass etc coated. I'm hoping it looks amazing!
they said they would do any necessary paint correction before applying the PPF... PPF will naturally hide minor imperfections as well.

Paint correction yes, although it should be the minimal necessary.

PPF is users choice - for those of us who are likely to sell the car and get a new one in 3-4 years, it just doesn't pay off.

I just sold/traded in my 2019 Grand Sport which I babied to no end - it was almost perfect after nearly 4 years. In the end they didn't adjust the price at all from their online quote. It could have had rock chips, swirls. parked outside and driven in the rain every day and it wouldn't have made a difference in the $ I got for it.

Ceramic is definitely something I would do though. Makes it easier to clean, keeps it shiny, doesn't cost too much.

I am doing the PPF for $2,200. I drove my last Corvette for 75,000+miles and it had it's share of marks on the PPF that was on the car. It earned it's way.

Paint correction is the expensive part of PPF. No respectable PPF installer would do PPF without correction first unless the car is perfect and I have not seen one yet.

Yes in my opinion. As soon as I got my C-8 back home I had full paint correction done as well as Modesta Ceramic coated and polished. Love it and what a differnce it makes. Had my C-7 done as well and it was well worth the money
Good luck and congrats on the car-you will love it

Paint correction on the whole car, PPF on the front and Graphine Ceramic coating on the whole car. Great shine and very easy to keep clean.

If the whole car needs paint correction, which is doubtful, then sure go ahead and do it. Either way, ceramic coat it when done. I have a GTechniq 3 year coating on mine.

Your vehicle, like mine, will almost certainly be delivered with small swirls and light scratches, especially on the flat areas of the car (hood, sides and trunk) If you don't fix those areas before the PPF, the clear film will amplify the imperfections in the paint and will become even more visible, esp on lighter colored cars. Paint correction is a must have part of the PPF process. I just had my whole car covered in PPF, the paint correction was included in the package. Prior to having the PPF done the delivery swirls and scratches drove me absolutely crazy. Now, after the PPF, the car is pristine. I cannot get over the difference. My installer used self healing S-tec brand PPF with a built in layer of ceramic coating. The whole car was $7500, yes, not cheap, but I have no plans to sell my C8 for a very long time and I drive the heck out of it. It took two weeks to complete the job, which killed me, but now the car looks absolutely amazing, front to back a 100% improvement. My installer, Detail Ground in Orlando, does all sorts of exotics and high end vehicles. They told me the C8, with its very complicated front and rear ends, is one of the more difficult cars to do and cant be completed in just a couple of days. They are a small, two bay shop, and concentrate on only two cars at a time with two or three installers I believe. I highly recommend having PPF installed
