Default Think I hit the lottery

The last week I finally decided it was time to get in line for a C8 so started recon on dealers that would sell at MSRP, those few that are MSRP have an extensive wait list but was told if I could be flexible re: constraints then I might be able to move up the list. Don't mind that as my only must have were either Z51 or mag ride, preferably both, but it looked like it might be possible to get an order in this Summer with one dealer...so Thursday on a whim I called my hometown (small town) dealer as I know someone that works there to inquire about allocations, they typically get 3 or so a year. Sales mgr calls me back an hour later and says "we just got an allocation, it just has to have Z51". I had to pick my jaw off the floor. Of course, I said get it. He said mag ride is constrained but that sometimes they can get constraints pushed through...then he asks if I want a Z06 to which I said sure if I can get one so I'm first in line with said dealer, even though it's likely a .03% chance they get an allocation. I'm cool with that as the Z is a pipe dream at this point for me anyway.

The other thing that's great about them is that they only charge MSRP, no doc fee, mandatory appearance package, etc. So, he put in my order with Z51 and mag ride as a hi-priority as well as a non mag ride order. Hoping they'll accept the former but I'll be happy with either one...we'll see what happens and I'll believe it when I see it actually go 3000 but, for now, I'm stoked...never thought I'd get a foot in the door this quick. Fingers crossed.

For your sake I hope its actually tied to an allocation. Of the hundreds of dealers I called last summer, numerous mistakenly called 1100 status an allocation. Not to dash your hopes but afaik the April allocations were given out earlier in the month, maybe small dealers got a little extra love from leftover "unclaimed" allocations. Dog speed.

Good luck - hope your allocation goes through and you get your car early this summer.

Yeah, I'm tempering my hopes and expectations until I get some hard data. I'm just happy to finally get the process started.

Sounds like you struck it rich, however I'd try not to get too stoked too soon as many times these small dealer deals fall through.
You might still want to get on the waiting list for one of the big guys just to cover your bases as the deposits are refundable.

So, it looks like you're on course for one of two C8s now, and, first in line for a ZO6 later. Not a bad enquiry.

The second call I made from Omaha, NE for a new, in-stock 1977 Corvette was to Anderson Auto Company in Wahoo, NE, in December 1976. (Chevrolet dealer long ago closed.) The owner, Garwood Anderson said; "yah, I had 14 new ones in stock, I've got 9 left, come on out." I bought my 1st new Corvette 3 hours later. Great story! Hope you get yours! Both of em!👍

I think there were no allocations last week. I’d advise clarifying with the dealer. The last order cycle was April 14 and the next cycle is the second week of May.

You may want to contact your dealer to clarify that they do in fact have an actual allocation....good luck though

I also went to small town dealer in feb after waiting 5 months last year at another dealer (1st on that order list) that just took a deposit and had no real chance of getting car and was $5k above msrp.
My car (2023) is being built end of this month, barring any other shutdowns.
Was originally 5-23 but moved a week due to shutdown. Did have some constraints, not many early 2023s can get z51 or mag ride, some but limited.

What a great story! Not one many of us can tell. So maybe you DID win the lottery! Good on you. If your dealer can verify that your order status is 2000, you got an allocation. Please tell us your specs and post pics when you get it.

Thanks all, guess I'll see what happens this week...I hope to get some clarity shortly, as the SM told me that he thought we'd get one of the two orders accepted Tuesday. After seeing/hearing/reading the experiences of others for the last few years, I'm going into this with high hopes and low expectations.

👍
IIRC, H&H Chevrolet had none at the time. It was just a lucky telephone call is all. My Dad bought Oldsmobiles from Anderson in the 1950s, and a '77 Olds Cutlass from him a few weeks after I bought the Corvette.

Word to the wise: get the MSRP in writing. Also no dealer add ons in writing . My mistake, went to pick up the wife’s 2020 HTC in Dec 2020 and dealer tacked on $2,100.00 in add ons
window tint, door edge protection, nitrogen for tires, some GPS alarm thing. They would not back down, I negotiated to remove the nitrogen and GPS thing and replaced with tire and wheel, warranty. My wife then got $600 back after she asked if they would retint after getting a citation. DONT TRUST DEALERS

As we've all found out with RHD, in writing does not matter. Even in writing they can and will ignore anything promised. Only thing I'd make sure of is if a refund is required that it's refundable.

Good advice, thanks bobby. I've seen exactly what you're talking about play out with some dealers before...the one thing, and maybe the only thing in my favor here is that the Exec Mgr is a family friend so I'm pretty sure they won't steer me wrong. I didn't realize there was someone I knew employed there until I got a Facebook invite to an event at the dealership, which is why I then called them, so I kinda lucked out. I think there are more advantages than not in dealing with a small town dealership, especially when you know someone there...your word and loyalty means something in a small town, until you show it isn't good. We'll see how it turns out but I trust that they'll do me right and I for sure will reciprocate.
