GM Employee discount

When demand for the C8 drops close to supply, I suspect. In other words, when pigs fly and little girls get unicorns for their 12th birthday.

Are you talking a discount for actual employees or those "employee" discount promotions where dealers claim to offer it to the public? I think I've read where salesman have stated they can purchase a new C8 at employee discount.

Don't see that happening any time soon if ever again. The demand is just way too high. If/when C8s are just sitting on dealer lots waiting to be sold then GM "might" consider opening up GMS for them again. Until then, MSRP will be the new norm for those with access to GMS. I'd love being able to use my GM Employee discount for my new C8 but based on current demand, the best you can hope for is MSRP.

Chances of GM offering an employee discount on the C8 in the near future appear to be very slim considering the extremely high demand for the car. Why would they offer a discount when people are willingly paying MSRP or above for the car?

Very discouraging to loyal GM employees and those who are retired.

Yeah I think the huge demand for the C8 forced GM to rethink the Employee Discount they previously gave to employees and retirees on previous generations of Corvettes. The employee discount was usually available within 6 months to a year of startup for previous gens.
GMS is still available for the rest of GM's lineup of vehicles with the exception of maybe the new GMC Hummer and a select few other high profile vehicles.

I am a GM employee and I can’t get a discount on one. I ordered one for MSRP like everyone else. My new Cadillac though no problem

My understanding from my local dealer is that neither GM Employee Discount nor GM Supplier Discount will be available until demand for this vehicle diminishes significantly. For example, when the C7 was initially introduced, neither discount was available until supply was able to meet demand. I suspect it may be years, if ever, before either discount will be available for the C8.

Employee Discount
As I recall, there was no employee discount on the 2014 C7. But I did receive the employee discount on my 2015 C7.

As a GM retiree, I'm disappointed that after 3 years, GM still has not opened up GMS for the C8. I just got a new 2022 Chevy and was able to use my GMS on that but not the new 2023 C8 that I'll be ordering in the next couple of months. But then again, dealers are NOT required to give GMS discount to GM employees/retirees so I guess I should be thankful that in Michigan, most dealers here still allow you to use it.

My guess is that GM won't even consider opening up the Employee Discount (i.e. GMS) for C8s until production can meet current demand AND the price for used C8s falls below the price of new ones. Otherwise, some GM employees and retirees could use their discount to significantly profit from selling their C8's after getting them. Although I'm trying to remember if, for GMS, you have to keep the vehicle for at least 6 months before selling it. That rule may still be in place. And by meet demand, I mean you placing an order and being able to get a new c8 in just 4-6 weeks. It would also mean that dealers would have new C8s on their lots as stock units ready for customers to buy just like any normal vehicle inventory. It's crazy that "used" C8s are actually higher in price then brand new ones! Doesn't make sense but because of the sky high demand for the C8, it's either get a used one at a higher price or wait in line at a dealer for a year to get a new one at MSRP. I guess some people don't have the patience to do that, hence the demand and higher price for used ones.
