Default Had to drive my C8 out in the rain yesterday. Yikes!

My new C8 has been in storage since I took delivery of it last month. I had a couple of appointments yesterday to get some things done for it. Of all the days, showers were pretty much ongoing all day. By the time I had returned it back into the garage, it was all grimy with some mud splatter residue. I hate seeing it all dirty like that, but it has to be left that that way for now. So tempted to get it washed today, but it's currently overcast and 30 degrees outside. It's gnawing at me. But, why?

Mother Nature is a cruel mistress that cares little for your well groomed appearance.
I went out for a short drive last night and when I was just about to set up for the launch it started snowing so I empathize. At least you don’t have a white C8 right? Mine has been a dirty white boy all winter from the day I brought it home.

It won't melt or shrink. I picked mine up from the dealer in the rain, and a month later drove to Bowling Green in the middle of a monsoon. The car is fine.

If it's been outside before you got it chances are that it has been rained on in the QC holding yard or the truck that delivered it.

Some prefer to keep their Corvettes immaculate inside, outside, underhood and underneath, other's prefer to keep them sorta clean, then there's other's who couldn't care less what their Corvettes look like. No right or wrong way, only the way the suits the individual owner.
I do find it odd that some who do drive their Corvettes in the rain and/or snow either because they prefer to or have to because they have no other vehicle like to mock those who do not drive in bad weather.

I live in the PNW, no garage. It rains all the time, but when it does stop, all the dust/dirt that had collected on the car runs down the back (steep driveway). Dirty Dirty Dirty... but not as dirty as when it's driven in the rain..

The back of the car takes 1/2 as much time to clean as the rest of the car put together (excluding wheels)...

Luckily for me, cleaning the dirty thing is a form of therapy.

I've accepted the fact that it has to be driven in all kinds of weather, sooner or later. However, I also like to keep it clean looking inside and out as much as possible. If it wasn't for the time of year here and the inclement weather currently, it would have been cleaned off by now.

My story goes like this….my first corvette was a garage queen and I had a daily driver. I never thought I’d be blessed enough to get another so kept it spotless. After a few corvettes I still had the daily driver but said heck with that! Put snow tires on all my corvettes and they are a blast to drive in cold weather. Point is some people enjoy their cars and want to drive them daily and they know the next one is coming so why not drive it? To me it’s a luxury to drive it anytime not save it. But each to their own. When I drive my car to the local corvette meeting in the snow there were folks who wouldn’t talk to me cause I guess I sinned. I hear people comment damn Greg drive his corvette tonight! Lol

Oh I’ve been known to get that 5 gallon bucket full of hot water and wash quickly!

Soap, water and elbow grease will clean that car up like new. Been through torrential rain, dirt, dust, etc. No harm done to car, just cleaning up to do. Having a good type of wax, ceramic coating, etc makes cleanup easier.

When I bought my C7 I got the optional rain proof paint. Totally worth it. Going to get the same thing with my C8.
