Default MEGA MERGE No mag ride ?

From the March allocation thread-

"Here are the rest of the details from our consensus notes, released this morning:

  • Rear Park assist deleted due to chip shortage since 1/24
    • Builds starting April 11th will get their car with functional Park Assist
    • Retrofit for cars with delete to begin Q4.
  • 0% availability on ZZ3- Engine appearance and lighting package.
  • 0% availability on 5ZZ- High wing spoiler in Carbon Flash.
  • 0% availability on Magnetic ride control- FE2/FE4" (Note that this apparently includes both Non Z51 AND Z51 builds).
I wonder if this will carry over to end of March allocations and affect the Z06 as well?

Please stop posting this nonsense. Maybe stick to first aid kits for a while.

Wouldn't have been a deal breaker for me, but glad I got it.

This is certainly going to affect a lot of builds going forward! I think I'm safe as well with a 4/4 TPW. Guess some hit the sweet spot with a 4/11 TPW and get the mag-ride and rear park sensors.

End of March allocations (2023 MY) will not have any Z06 allocations.

This is certainly not welcomed news at the moment (or any moment). I'm currently stuck in the "tired of the car before I even have it" phase, which comes in waves as many others can attest to. Hoping for the best and planning for the worst. The latter being if this pushes my build out significantly further, I'll either move to a future variants list or bid the C8 adieu.

Next they will be saying the LT2 engine is on constraint, but we can deliver it w/o an engine if you order it.

Since they also said that the Z06 won't be available for the early MY 2023 builds, the only reason to be starting the 2023MY early is to bump up the price quite a bit on the base C8?

Interestingly, all Z06's have MSRC. So I wonder if the MSRC is the holdup.

Crazy, isn't mag ride control one of the bigger selling options? Definitely GM makes a good margin profit on this, right?

As long as you order Z51 Mag ride isn't really needed just extra complexity. However with the base suspension thats another story.

It's popular with the Z51 crowd. But I was surprised how few non-Z51 owners ordered it.

Curious, what makes you say that?

MSRC allows you to make the Z51 a little more compliant for street use and still has the ability to keep the tire better planted on the ground. And you don't get PTM (which is desirable for track use) unless you add MSRC to a Z51.

The Z06 isn't even offered without MSRC.

My order was accepted but they said no tall wing. Nothing was said about mag ride. I have not gotten a build date.

Have a call into my salesman.

Y'all hang in there,
Robert

The Z51 suspension is plenty compliant. The base suspension is mushy and the MAG ride can help firm it up some. Ordering MAG ride with Z51 is a waste of money and you are adding the risk of failures and expensive repairs in the future. It simply isn't all its reported to be. The base suspension is great for the Eldorado crowd however if you want to drive in a spirited manner your going to need MAG ride to shore it up.

A lot of the hold up will be all the Carbon Fiber pieces, since the Z06 is loaded with it. Carbon Fiber parts are way behind, kinda why they did away with the engine appearance package. I think the Z06 won't be produced right away.

While the Z51 isn't uncomfortable it is nice to be able to soften the ride closer to the base for touring. You may not care but people are different. And the MSRC does more than just adjust the ride firmness, it does a better job of keeping the tire connected to the ground . And it isn't any more complicated on the Z51 than it is on the base. MSRC failures are uncommon.
