Yep, V8/V4 and 8 gears that aren't often used, just adds more complexity and expense to a drive train with the result of a small bit of fuel economy. We'll probably see automatic traffic engine start/stop in the future. For the consumer this is not cost effective, just helps the GM corporation need to maximize fuel economy.

I gotta admit unlike my Silverado I don't know when I'm in V4 until I notice the green light on the dash. Smooth as silk.

V8 / V4 keeps the car out of gas guzzler territory. And my car goes into 8 gear all the time at highway speeds. I've watched the car get 30 mpg at 75 mph in 8th gear, V4 mode, on multiple highway trips.

Definitely hear a faint, subtle “psst” sound in my ‘23. Sounds like a solenoid engaging/disengaging.

If the dealer said you will hear a slight noise, then it must be true. Done the above and hearing is perfect, no noise, but thanks for telling us what we cannot hear! LOL!

I have 2024 HTC and hear the same noise when V8 drops to the v4, Is there a solution to get rid of this? I hate to bring it in for them to tell me they see nothing.

Let me know.
thanks

Exactly, kind of a light sneeze or whoosh sound. I did not hear it at first, but once I did, I now hear it easily. Kinda neat...

Yep others hear a woosh type sound. Solution to all Vette tire, road, ticking etc sounds is what I do. Have sound system playing 99% of the time!

Electric stepping motors active the V4 valves in the exhaust. All exhaust gas is required to pass thru two small holes in V4. Not an issue with performance as probably <50 hp when in V4. Perhaps that is the sound some hear is when it transitions from the exhaust filling the large pipe to those small holes? I never have heard in my 2 C7s (seldom in V4) or my 2020 C8 or my present E-Ray when I drive in MY Mode set to Sport. I also often drive in Z-Mode Power set to Track so in never goes in V4.

I have all of my valves disconnected. The "sneeze" sound is the intake and exhaust valves locking into the closed position.

On a 977 mile trip from San Antonio, TX to Bowling Geen, Ky I didn't even know it had the V8/V4 mode. But I saw it come up. I never felt or heard anything. The entire trip it was totally seamless, because I started watching it.

You old guys are just imagining that you are hearing things...again. LOL

I must be hearing things too! I hear it whenever the radio is off, though notice it less now that I know it’s not an issue.
