In my humble opinion…You buy car like the C8 because you love to drive and appreciate the exquisite design and performance. It’s not intended to be an investment product (although it will hold its value well). I was offered 30k over list by the shop owner that installed my new wheels. Legit offer…I said no without hesitation.
The OP sounded like a kid that buys GameStop and Bitcoin, thinking it’s an easy way to make a buck. Making a buck does not make you happy. I bought my car to drive and it makes me smile every time I get in it. Totally a keeper.

This has to be the dumbest thread with an equally dumb title that I've seen here so far.
Please close this worthless thread. Thanks!😉

A car is not an investment, It is a depreciating asset that puts a huge smile on my face…which I APPRECIATE!
I think you are worrying to much and should drive it and forget about values all together…but if the Corvette is the source of your worries, then sell it and move on altogether (because I don’t think you’ll be back in one in a “few years” at or below MSRP). I do not think Stingray values are going anywhere anytime soon. Demand is still far out pacing supply on “regular” cars much less the C8 Corvette.

I sold my 2020 CTF to go after a ZO6. The frenzy over that car made me think twice about what I did. Did I make any money? Yes but I did not gouge anyone on the price either. The CTF I bought was not ordered by me obviously and I wanted a car that I ordered. I have been without my C8 for about 5 months still with a deposit at a top 10 volume dealer but stumbled into an allocation at another dealer in November and thus my 2022 Stingray is being built the week of 2/21. No deposit and at MSRP. If you enjoy the car keep it and enjoy it. The market has dropped some in my opinion for the earlier cars but 22's are bringing big bucks on the used car market. I have seen more cars going under the 90k mark each week for 20's and 21's. Enjoy your car as I should have and will when the new one comes because that one is not going to be sold once it arrives.

It all depends on you.....You should need no advice in this area....so many questions....how old are you, how rich are you, did you get what you wanted, how long can you wait 1-2 years...LOOK...its your decision no one elses.
I am 75...Took me 8 months to get her...thats like 60 years in dog years?? I love mine and got exactly what I wanted at msrp price..Its a keeper... I do not care what I am offered she is keeper and did I mention I love her.. Everytime I walk out into the garage I can not believe that a guy that made about $45,000 a year in 2002 when I retired could afford a car like this....paid cash....Good money management...Only financed my home and paid cash for my lake home....Bragging ,, you bet
All cars will have some problems...so what...thats what a warrenty is for...
Good luck in your decision....

I doubt any dealer was offering you $130k for a $87k Z51, if so, you should have taken it. With taxes & fees, you're probably into the car for about $95k give or take? So you'd have to sell it for that much to break even and then hope you can get another one for less total out the door down the road to come out ahead. I just don't see that happening soon.
if you would not take this deal……..I don’t understand the ops post now? Car resale like anything is a crap shoot. What if bg goes on strike, what if ww3 starts, what’s inflation going to do how about a stock market crash……you’ll drive yourself crazy……
But drive your c8 will make you crazy happy.

Anyway, I thought I read the Z06 allocations were one in the same of the stingray. So the big dealers with hundreds on their waiting lists for Z06, wouldn't they use those to sell the Z's, lessening the Stingray sales? Also, I thought I read that they use the same production line as well...so with high demand for Z06 would there be less Stingray production? Hell, I don't know what to expect, but it seems to me Chevy can't keep up with the demand as is and it appears it won't be gaining on it in the future. I doubt everyone will want a Z. I don't...too much car. I wish I was on the Z list early at MM and get a first run and sell that fkr for 50k profit though! oh well...hindsight.
My HTC was built Monday and paid for yesterday and is hopefully on it's way shortly. It'll be the last car I buy for myself. So stoked!

Sell it and drive your Supra. You like the Supra more and you feel it's a better car so it's a win win situation. You can make money on the C8 and still keep the superior car to enjoy.

Yeah but now his car that he was offered $130k for , is now only worth $90k and so the market is imploding. So why didn't he take the $130k when it was offered? Did he think it was going UP from there? He posts pictures of it under a car port covered in snow and says he feels guilty for not washing the car, not guilty enough to actually wash it, but guilty nonetheless.

Can't wait for 500 - waiting to get to 1500 is going to take forever. I'm hoping once weather warms up to do some weekend road trips.

Yes, it certainly can be. In this instance, with this OP, deservedly so. If you doubt it go back and read the Supra thread he started.
OP posts premises with the intent to goad, not converse, then he mock complains, with “aw, shucks, I was just lookin’ for conversation, y’all’s a bunch of a-holes” as his farewell. It’s a tired routine.

Wonder what percent of future C8 Z06 buyers own C8 Stingrays that they will be selling or trading in? My wild guess 50%, will make lots of used Stingrays available to make up for that lost new Stingray production.

The problem with this observation is TIME. If GM dumped 25,000 Z06s in three days, it would indeed have an impact. But with hand built motors etc., they will trickle into the market and give the market time to absorb the used Stingrays.

“ I also know a guy who had a deposit on a msrp c8 and then had to turn around when it was delivered and bid on his own car because he didn't have paper work and a guy in the showroom offered more money the other guy got the car because he offered 140k for a 2lt “

It's going to be a long time before new C8s get cheaper. Most dealers have waiting lists 12 to 18 months long, and production of Stingray's is going to decline for MY 23, because approx. 1/3 of production will be Z06s. Demand for the Stingray is going nowhere, supply is going down. And when the start building E-Rays and ZR-1s, supply of the Stingray will be further limited. Prices aren't going down any time soon.
Eventually? Sure. In the next year or two? Not likely.
