Yep and to think Rick Hendrick bought his first Chevy Dealership ~30 miles from where I live in 1976 at age 23!
Now has 100+ Dealerships and a net worth of 1 billion! Seams like a nice down to earth guy!
Was no question he was going to get he 1st Z06 as the bidding went to $3,600,000

This is from a Hendrick website:
After graduating from North Carolina State University, Hendrick, at the age of 23, became the general sales manager of a BMW/Mercedes dealership. Two years later in 1975 Hendrick had the opportunity to buy his first dealership, becoming the youngest Chevrolet Dealership owner in the country.
Here is another good source:
In 1975, Chevrolet appointed 25-year-old Rick Hendrick to take the reins of a struggling dealership in Bennetsville, SC – making him the youngest Chevrolet dealer in history.

Safety Car
Some of the shady d-bag dealers will probably act like their $100k mark ups are a bargain after that selling price!

Not too surprised it sold for that as I had predicted $3 million. BTW, Rick Hendrick bought it as expected given he loves/buys VIN#1 Vettes.
The full auction sale price of the car will go to the Operation Homefront charity which helps U.S. military families in need. Zero fees are collected by Barrett-Jackson' as it was a charity sale.
